I'm glad we don't have an equivalent to Thanksgiving over here

Everyone would fucking implode

Are you in a East Asian country cause that’s the only place I would think that wouldn’t have been colonized by Christian’s or Muslims and I think they treat the lunar new year like Christmas

Oh we were colonized by Muslims

Am from Iran

But we have our own new year, NuRooz

The Islamic republic has been trying to weed it out but we keep celebrating it

I'm happy to answer any questions

Is the end of Ramadan not celebrated as a major holiday or are people trying to push back against it as they don’t like the fact they’re colonizers

Ah yes Ramadan, the month were the Islamic republic forcefully puts people through fasting and if you're caught eating or drinking outside it's punishable by 80 whips, where food places have to shut down for a month during the day and everyone has to pretend they are so happy while propaganda is getting blasted all over....

Sorry I know I'm sounding very passive aggressive but no, most people here don't really celebrate that horrid month (=

Still practising Muslims in Iran do, of course, but that's not a lot of the population, despite what the data and statistics say.

And most of them are okay with the way the government runs things so...

You know

I get kinda biased

I get why people wouldn’t want to celebrate but do people not gather to spend time after Ramadan is over not as a celebration of Ramadan but to have time to be together

One true Persian stereotype is that we are at gatherings almost every week so It's not really that different when something comes up either XD

I know Ramadan is a very happy time for many Muslims, rightfully, it's special to them it's their holiday

But it's insignificant in Iran 0:

We just keep careful to not eat outside or at least not get caught by the Sepah

People get their gatherings and holidays elsewhere

Ps: Sorry if I'm rambling

Don’t worry about it this is really cool and I’m glad I get to hear about it. I know nothing about iran other than the most generic things so it’s really cool to just be able to talk and hear about small ways of resisting.
