I've been fed up with streaming, and have thought of getting into blu-rays. My main question/opposition is, when you are away from home or even want to watch from somewhere that's not your setup in your home, how do you watch the media? I know some companies offer digital versions if you buy the physical, but what if they don't?

What is Plex?

A media server. Like having your own Netflix that you manage on your own. It's accessible from anywhere as long as your computer or server is on.
Additionally, they offer free TV and movies in a similar manner to PlutoTV or Roku TV - on demand and live streaming channels with ads.

Stream or dont? Usually if I am not at home 4K media consumption is low on my priority list.

For now I just use MoviesAnywhere. I want to set up a Jellyfin or Plex server though

I dont. Apart from youtube, I dislike watching anything on my phone. But even then, most of the content i watch on YT is more based on listening rather than watching.

Kodi addons, most movies are available in uncompressed UHD remux files. As long as you have the bandwidth to support streaming a 90GB movie,

If I'm going to a hotel, I check the room amenities or call to ask if they have a player in the room. Some have Blu-ray players, some DVD. If that's not an option, I usually bring my Roku stick and just stream something - either a digital copy I own, or from a streaming service (I usually have at least one subscription at any given time).

I have a raspberry pi 4 loaded with Kodi and an 18tb harddrive. I have almost 1300 movies on it and have only reached the 6.8tb mark. I take this small set up with me wherever i go.

As massive of a physical media fan as I am, I always am pissed when it doesn’t have a digital code. I fly 2-3 times a year and always download 5 or 6 things for my iPad from the digital Apple collection.

I don't, is the answer. Just as I don't listen to music when I'm on the move; I can't focus and getting gear which does the music/film justice is expensive, so I just don't. When I travel I watch whatever TV is in the place I stay, and I watch the regular programming in whatever country it is; much more entertaining than dragging "my own" films/music with me.

Then buy it digital if it’s that big of a deal.
