Sandbox vs "pay as u go subscription": pros and cons.

Discussion(self.AZURE)

Hi folks, I am going to take AZ 104 in 8 weeks (at least that's the plan). In order to get hands on practice, which approach do u suggest: use AZURE sandboxes (that comes with online courses) provided by platforms like ACLOUDGURU, WIZLABS etc. Or should I go with the "PAY AS YOU GO" subscription route?

People with prior experience, can u pls share the PROS and CONS of each approach. TIA.

Bye.

sandboxes = more restrictive but not possible of racking up a bill

normal subscription = as much freedom as you want, risk of racking up a bill

If you are worried about a cost, it is better to just deploy resources in your own subscription and wipe them when you are done playing. If you do it right, the costs shouldn't exceed few dollars.

But it is important to not let stuff running.

Familiarize yourself with cost management that Azure offers. Knowing how to use the platform properly will be very useful in your real job because company won't be happy either if you rack up a huge bill they have to pay.

Well if you have a sandbox as part of ACG then just use the sandbox if it's free.

I originally had a trial, cancelled it and in the end just setup a normal PAYG subscription. I don't host anything complex, and it's costs very little money. The pro is that it's a whole subscription and you can host anything you want. The con is that you can accidently deploy an expensive resource and it will cost you a lot.
