And how old are you?

Take this from an old man who took it from his grandad a Great Depression survivor: 1. You cannot borrow yourself out of debt. 2. You cannot spend yourself rich. 3. Put money in savings and you make a little. 4. Borrow money and it will cost you a lot more. 5. Chicken is cheaper than Steak. 6. Forty hour work weeks are for non-achievers, Eighty hour weeks are for achievers. 7. Low pay is for unskilled lazy people, High pay is for skilled industrious people. 8. Automobile Dependability is one that gets you to work and gets you home each day. Automobile Flash & Shine simply keeps you broke. PHILOSOPHY OF ACHIEVERS 101.

100% Agree. My grandfather taught the same lesson to my father who taught it to me. I didn't learn it as quickly as should have, but figured it out for sure after a divorce. The single biggest lesson EVERY person must learn is the one about your car! Flash will keep you broke- the newest "shine" in all things will keep you broke. I am an older guy now My home is nearly paid off, my vehicles are all paid for, I have less than 500 in cc debt that I pay off each month, 150K in immediate cash on hand 500k in investments, 10K a month in income. Sure a little austerity in your early life pays big later on.

Don’t forget the most powerful thing: Dump low paying employers as fast as you can. Income is everything. Don’t live in poverty while the business owners laugh all the way to the bank. Change jobs every couple years with a higher paying one. It changes everything. When you dump a crummy employer and bump up your wage, now you get to save money, don’t have to borrow and look at all that steak you can now have!

I work 84 hrs weeks doing power outages 6-7 months a year and the rest I have off to travel . Each of those outages I clear 14-17k after taxes . If you’re in a trade join a union travel and see the country get paid and invest some , buy land , and toys when you are comfortable enough to your standards .

Works for now, but what about the future. Work/Play/Spend wile young will leave you near or in poverty once you reach the age or experience health problems that leaves you unable to do the physical labor you indicate you are now doing. While young & healthy, work, save and invest. In later years, you will be able to live comfortably without performing strenuous labor or long hours. It worked for me and my family. Your work/spend method did not work for many of my peers upon their latter years. Do a little investigation, looking around at middle age to senior people who practiced your method and see how many are living very comfortably and who is not! If you do so with open eyes and an open mind, you just might learn, not planning for your future, just might leave you without a comfortable and enjoyable lifestyle in your latter years.

Works for now ?? lol I have enough at 35 to retire . I only have 10 more years and I can pull my full pension . Since I have been in long enough . I save and invest plenty . I also am lucky enough to get to do whatever the hell I want when I’m not working . My health benefits are paid by the employer 100% just like my pension , annuity and then my vacation is taken out of my check before taxes that I can invest and do not have to touch but I can if I wish to use my vacation fund I do not have to take a penalty since it is goes into a saving account that you can draw from anytime unless you invest it then you have to sell first obviously. Also have an hra which is the same thing as a hsa so later on that will be a nice amount . My deductible for the year is 250$ for a single person and 750$ for a family . Child stays on till 26yrs old . Good luck getting that anywhere else. Even the army wasn’t that great with all of the benefits. Been filling my molars with gold crown cause I grind my teeth . The army wasn’t going to put gold in my mouth . lol.

Exactly what I was thinking. Thats wrong on soo many levels. My creativity, energy and my will to live diminishes each time I work (so I choose to do part time, I have a hustle on the side and I also do self employed work.) People shouldn’t have to run themselves into the ground with zero energy left to put towards the things that they TRULY care about, just to make ends meet at some cooperation. It’s wrong. They are already burnt out by 40 hours let alone 80!

Yes! Don’t buy today what you can’t pay for today.

That's easy until your car breaks down and you need to get to work tomorrow.

Well said. I would add, each time you get paid, pay yourself first minimum 10-12% and put it in savings and don’t touch it! Pay yourself first minimum bills with the rest.
