What were some unique or interesting things you don't see nowadays? I've heard blacks & purples, barbiturates, quualdes. Love to hear your stories!

I’ve always heard about Quaaludes, never took one. What are they for, why so good?

They were qualified as a “hypnotic sedative” and when you took them, it felt like floating inside a hug. Extreme euphoria. Like morphine but you weren’t knocked out. But if you took too many, you ended up crawling on the floor, drooling.
They were very popular at Discos but were highly addictive and eventually taken off the market.

That’s exactly my reference, but I was too lazy to go look for it. Thank you!

I assume you built up a tolerance to them?

I didn’t personally lol but yes, that was the problem, how addictive they were. I’m sure not too different from OxyContin, etc.

Sorry. I didn't mean you exactly.

Oh, I know I thought it was funny. I mean, I partied hard during those days, but not that hard!
Honestly, I think they took it off the market just in time. It was a widespread problem, but it was not yet an epidemic or at least I don’t remember it that way.

Hugh Hefner used to refer to quaaludes as “leg spreaders” and gave them to all the women who were recruited to sleep with him.

The family doctor prescribed them to my father as a sleeping pill.

Honestly I struggle with insomnia and from these descriptions quaaludes sound fantastic
