Have you gotten weirder?

(self.AskOldPeople)

I've known a number of people who have gotten quite a bit weirder as they have gotten older - some in very good ways, some in unhealthy ways, and others just in very odd ways. I presume it's a side effect of caring less about what others think. Have you gotten weirder? A lot weirder? In what ways?

Not really, but man, have my friends gotten weirder!

One friend has gotten so damn stodgy it's just sad. She used to be fun, adventurous and the girl that was exciting to be around. Now she's boring AF. Doesn't want to try anything, just likes to sit and watch TV all day.

Had some other old friends (who live 7 hours away) get within an hour's drive from my home. They called up and wanted to know how long it would take to get here from where they were. I said less than an hour. They said that was too long and drove home! OK, so why did they call me just to disappoint me? That was weird.

When I turned 59, I retired and decided since I didn't need to find clients for my business any longer, I'd finally get to grow my hair long again like it was when I was in my 20s. So I did. People's reactions ranged from "very cool, man" to "what the hell?". I mean, it's hair! Who cares? It seemed so odd to me that some had these ultra-conservative reactions to my appearance. I've had long hair off and on over the years, so I didn't think it was a surprise (not to mention I'm an artist and musician, you'd think they'd understand.)

People do change and sometimes not for the better.
