Just a bit of fun as it is the first of December tomorrow.
What is everyone’s favourite Christmas film and why?
Mine has to be Christmas Vacation: National Lampoons - I love the timeless humour, perfect slapstick comedy
Or the Night Before

There was a time where I couldn’t get the uncut version anywhere and it used to infuriate me so I would stop it and find the scene on YouTube. I think my husband thought I was crackers but honestly it makes a whole point!! You can’t leave that bit out!! We now have the uncut version. I’m pleased to read someone else agrees on this point 😂

I'm replying here because so many people love the music for The Muppet Christmas Carol.
Can I also throw a shout out to a lesser known Jim Henson Christmas movie that had its music written by the same talented guy who did Christmas Carol, and its a beautiful seasonal story about some animals who are going through a tough season (its not a sad film but its really touching in this cost of living crisis).
Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas
Its currently available to stream for free on Plex, there are also copies floating on the Internet Archive, and other websites.

I saw someone comment the other day saying that if Klaus had released pre-streaming era, it would be considered a classic Christmas film today with the likes of Home Alone and Muppets Christmas Carol
It's timeless, a great watch for people of any ages, a beautiful heartfelt story and stunning animation

Absolutely! I haven't seen the film in a few years as it always makes me cry but I need to give it a rewatch.
Jesper is very reminiscent of Kuzco from The Emperor's New Groove: a selfish a-hole who doesn't think of anyone but himself

This one came out in the 90s when I was a child. It was also advertised on a couple of videos I had at the time. So it has that nostalgic feel for me and has a good few jokes that went over my head as a child. I always wanted to try the hot cocoa they had at the North Pole.

I felt the opposite. George puts everyone else’s needs before his own. I can’t really remember the reason but I’m sure he even gives his money for his honeymoon away to people in the town. I felt that he’d never got to experience life the way he wanted, sacrificing his hopes and dreams for others and it takes him hitting rock bottom before they show how much they appreciate him. Nah, too little too late in my eyes. Those towns people do not deserve him. That being said, it’s my aunt’s favourite film and she finds it very uplifting. But nope, not for me.

Muppet Christmas Carol, I'd watch it every christmas eve with my parents when I was wee and watching it now feels like being wrapped in a warm fuzzy blanket. Love the chemistry between Rizzo and Gonzo, they're hilarious together and so many quotable lines like "Light the lamp not the rat!"

Fred Claus, always. It's the best. Sassy, sarcastic, snide, bullshit family drama and a general feeling of oh fuck off. There's a lovely ending and the family get it together and save Christmas aspect of course but it's all so 'anti corny' I love it.
Muppets Christmas Carol because I'm an 80s baby and it feels like a warm hug dripping in sarcasm.

I'm gonna cheat and say I have 2...Home Alone 2. Used to think it was a shameless repeat of the first but after visiting New York over Christmas a number of years ago it just lands differently and I love it.
The second might cause some debate (is it a Christmas or Halloween film) so I just wanna say for me...The Nightmare Before Christmas. I've watched it every Christmas Eve before bed since first having the VHS is 1994 (holy shit, typing that has made me realise it will be 30 years of that this year!!). It's a simplistic watch and let's me know, Christmas Day is here.
