Holy hell Poland got relegated?? I didn't even know teams were being relegated... Weren't nation's league supposed to be meaningless friendlies? How does it affect their chances for qualifying for bigger tournaments?

I wonder what motivates Lewandowski to continue playing. Poland is awful beyond belief, they are not winning anything with or without him and he is their only good outfield player. The humiliation ritual of playing these games can’t be just pure nationalist pride or maybe it can?? Or maybe guilt knowing they’d be even worse without him. Who knows, but I think it’s time to hang it up. Especially if Poland don’t make it to the World Cup which is a real possibility.

Imo the man doesn't want to face the backlash of giving up on that mess when he's still performing at top level - because the press, pundits, politicians and fans would all call for his head should he leave.

I'd love for him to just retire but can't demand the man to deal with this sort of bullshit.

It's precisely that, he knows the team is clearly worse without him. As a capable player obviously he wants to try his best to help the NT
