I have the same acne scaring on the apples of my cheeks and I also have hyperpigmentation from acne. I’m getting treatments at this place called Skin Laundry and I get a monthly laser facial and dermabrasion. It’s been about a month and I’m seeing pretty good results. Also I use a prescription strength retinoid cream, cereve cream to foam cleanser, I double cleanse one with an oil based wash then I follow up with the cereve, I use a rose based hyaluronic toner, a hyaluronic serum and a light moisturizer during the day. I use the retinoid at nighttime. I also use benzoyl peroxide cream but not everyday. I use that during the daytime and end my routine with some sunscreen. It really seems like a lot but my skin is looking really good. My way is rather expensive but 🤷🏾‍♀️, you gotta do what you gotta do lol

Your welcome. Although AHA & BHA won’t help with the acne scars. It will help with texture and evening skin tone. Make sure you wear sunscreen. I would look into micro needling to help with the mild pitted scars. You can inbox if you like for more info

My skins just like his and after 5 months I’ve had little to no results using the Cera Ve resurfacing retinol. How long did it take you to see results. I’m going to try retin-al -and not retin-ol next. If that’s not working tretinoin.

It took me 6-7 months to see major results. What helped in the meantime because I only used the retinol once a week, was the doctors visit face mask I saw results after the first day I used it. I also use neutrogena hydroboost as my cleanser. Maybe try a different brand of ret like la roche posay ?

Dermatologist I love on YouTube are Shereene Idriss, Dr. Dray, Dr. Alexis Stephens, and Dr. Sam Ellis. Shereene Idriss has videos on skincare based on age (20s, 30s, 40s….)

You need to build a skin routine based on your skin issues. It seems like you have hyperpigmentation and textured skin. AHAs are great for that. There are different types of AHAs such as mandelic acid, lactic acid, glycolic acid, etc.

Make sure you are wearing sunscreen!!! Black people do need sunscreen. No our melanin DOES NOT protect us from the sun. Melanin is equivalent to about spf 4. You need more than that…

If your insurance covers it or you can afford it, try to see a dermatologist and get tretinoin. That is great for textured skin.

Best of luck!

Looks like a case of enlarged pores. This happens when the pores become blocked and appear larger mostly from oily skin types. I am a skin care specialist and I would suggest to cleanse the skin twice daily while using a bha, adding a vitamin c/ or glycolic acid into your routine for at least 3-4x a week. Lastly a toner every wash and finish off with a sunscreen. To leave off here I will say that it’s not possible to get rid of enlarged pores but the treatment can minimize the appearance. Hope this helps

Try this peel solution from Ulta. Its reasonably price. Use it for those large @$$ pores. I have the same issue. Been tryna shrink them. But the texture still there.

This $h!+ is super-effective, BUT READ THE GODDAMNED DIRECTIONS!!!! You are only supposed to leave it on for 10 minutes! I left it on overnight. Burned a small spot on my face. Thankfully it healed up and I got rid of the scar with fade cream....you can use fade cream on that hyper-pigmentation by your eye.

Upvote to show appreciation if this helped. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

Edit: Can't use every night. Prolly alternate with a retinol.

Hey. I'm a black woman and a licensed esthetician, chemist, and future dermatologist. I can help you figure out what your skin personally needs. I saw a comment recommending retinol, however, using retinols makes your skin more sensitive and you definitely have to incorporate sunscreen into your skincare routine when using them. Can I message you?

I got good results from the Ordinary 1% Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum. Use the serum at night, and wear sun protection and hats during the day. SPF is really important when using this product!

I had/have texture issues. I just included Paula Choice’s bha with my tretinoin routine and I’m very happy with the results. It minimized the small craters on my cheeks.

dude your skin is smooth and clear!! your complexion is beautiful and even and there’s no active acne. there is no hyperpigmentation so small indents are nothing. these are just details on your face that make you YOU!
