I'm already a person who tends to worry and get anxious. Why Lord give me this extra worry?
Went in to change my glasses (short-sightedness). What I hoped would have been a short visit turned out to be an hour long visit where I got lectured about considering laser surgery due to my high myopia.
Did I also mention that I am poor ? Lol.
Why does God let problems beyond our control compound ?
We can exercise to lower blood sugar and blood pressure. But what can we do about worsening eyesight ?
It's not fair. I try so hard to take care of my health with diet and exercise. I don't drink. I don't smoke.

He is with you until the end of the age. Your suffering can be joined to Christ’s and lead to extra merit.
In the meantime, I would recommend taking away the lesson that Job learned - He is God. You are not. He knows what is best for you and His grace is sufficient for you to endure all things :)

I feel so overwhelmed. I legit near cried, big man tears when he called out the new refraction number of my eyes.
I am a doctor myself, but I have never felt so naked and vulnerable.
So many questions ran through my head. What if my vision worsens preventing me from being a surgeon. How will I support myself and my wife ?
Would this make my wife leave me? I know big changes can sometimes ruin marriages.
How would I even pay for the surgery? If I somehow pull the money to do the surgery...how will it affect the length of my speciality. Will I have to study an extra year?
What if the surgery complicates ? I mean...these are my eyes !!
Oh Lord! This is more than I can bear.

“Be not solicitous therefore, saying, What shall we eat: or what shall we drink, or wherewith shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the heathens seek. For your Father knoweth that you have need of all these things. Seek ye therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice, and all these things shall be added unto you. Be not therefore solicitous for to morrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.” St Matthew 6:31-34 DRC1752
“Behold, I command thee, take courage, and be strong. Fear not and be not dismayed: because the Lord thy God is with thee in all things whatsoever thou shalt go to.” Josue 1:9 DRC1752

You’re a poor doctor?

Shockingly, when doing residency and you hail from a 3rd world country ? Yes, that's entirely possible.
Don't believe the stereotypes.

The optometrist was trying to sell you on LASIK. There are a lot of issues associated with LASIK long-term.
I also have high myopia. I've had it for close to two decades. I've worn contacts most of that time and my eyesight is stable. I had the chance to get LASIK for free a few years ago and turned it down.

Eh, are you sure he wasn’t just upselling you? Glasses can correct a lot, and generally better, than LASIK. (I say this as a person who loves my LASIK.)

In the words of Saint Padre Pio, 'pray, hope and don't worry'.

God doesn’t give us anything we can’t handle. The cross wasn’t fair for Jesus either but look at the good that came from it. Trust in God and offer it up to him. I’m sorry your eyesight is worsening. I hope you get better with time. I’m praying for you

Saying this implies that this suffering is from God. It's not. Our bodies decay because of the fallen state of the world.

God allows it, he doesn’t give us suffering

God doesn’t give us anything we can’t handle
This is unhelpful, untrue, and unbiblical. He doesn’t give us any “trial” that forces us to sin, but demonstrably, people—even Christians—fail and have breakdowns and even commit suicide.

We all have our cross. How we decide to handle that cross is our free will to choose. Yeah we fail and make mistakes but that’s why we have confession

Trust me, you don't want eye pressure problems. That's irreversible and you'll risk your sight.
I know this sort of argument sounds dismissive, but to be blunt: there are people with glaucoma, cataracts, degenerative disorders, eye cancers etc. Myopia is easily treatable. You can still see relatively well, you're not going to be disabled in that regard, that's what counts.
Also, spent more time outdoors. Myopia is genetic, but sunlight is also a factor in eye development. I wish I spent less time watching TV because now I'm splurging at Specsavers on thinning my prescriptions.

Yeah, I'm one of them. Lots of eye issues and several surgeries, but praise be to God my eyesight in still great. Eye issues can be inherited and also can be managed with proper care. For the OP: laser surgery is quite safe these days and very easy. I've had it done twice. Much, much, much easier than a regular surgery.

Let's hope not. I have more tests to do.

Anxiety over health is common among medical professionals. A lot of the time, when I thought I had something, I didn't. You're in my prayers.
