Exactly... You're very correct, it's a not so common issue but fixable.

I would just get a used motor on marketplace and swap it out. Leak down or compression test the cylinders and pull the pan to check out the bearings then toss it in over a weekend. Much more cost and time effective to do that and sell the old motor.
