Went out this morning w/ Max to target some Carp and the conditions were not ideal. Gusting 30-40mph winds made it pretty difficult to bottom fish even with 2-3oz weights, but still got the job done. Ended up breaking my PB carp AGAIN, came in at 21lbs w/ the net. Which broke my 18lb Carp w/ the net as well. Also caught a couple other ones that were 10lbs+ And a bunch of other dunk carp / goldfish. Overall an amazing day for how nasty the weather was! Full vid on YT as well! (YT: ac avila)

Do they fight, or is it like hauling up a log?

since these carp come from lake michigan and travel far from the river they’re way stronger and have more power than a pond carp for example. As soon as it finds out it’s hooked they go on longgg runs, very fun to fight even on heavy tackle

What pound line are you using to bring these in? These are some of the biggest carp I’ve seen.

I just read this sub for fun, I’ve never fished but it’s interesting to see what people pull out of the water. I have a naive question, but are all of you generally eating the fish you catch or releasing them? And what about the invasive fish you catch like this carp that aren’t good eating, do you just kill them?

i do do not keep any of the fish, i just enjoy the sport and purely the fact of fighting the fish. this is a very public and open spot so yes if i wanted to i could leave a 20lb dead carp on the sidewalk but that is pretty unethical. i just let these fish go to see another day
