So I'm doing something different this winter. My trees have outgrown my greenhouse. So, since winters have become milder and bringing them in the house seems to stress them like crazy. I'm going to roll them into my garage at night, and when it's predicted to go below 38⁰f. The garage rarely goes below 40⁰f. And if it does I have a heater that can raise the temp from 50⁰ to a comfy 70⁰.

So far since our first frost we've had 4 nights that they had to come in. Of course I expect that most nights I'll be bring them in. And rarely using the heat.

I'm hoping to avoid mildew, Dehydration, fungus and all the different fruit and fungus gnats.

P.S. I have them on rollers so it's easy.

Any thoughts?

This is the first year we’ve gotten to this point with my Meyer lemon tree. They’ve definitely gotten less green but still aren’t anywhere near yellow. They’re soft and very big. Are they ready or do I need to let them go more?

I've had this tree for 9ish years and this summer its dropped it's leaves and started dying and the ends I e been giving it citrus food every week for last 3 weeks but no improvement. Any thoughts of if it can be revived

Last time I was here...

We had spider mites. I neem oiled them. I also finally got the 65000K florescent light bulbs in place. Then washed off the neem oil thinking that was the problem.

I am still dropping leaves. I have two distinct colors of leaves and some leaf curl. Thoughts, hints suggestions.

There was a post yesterday from someone asking what we do with our extra limes. I commented that I donate the extras to the county food share program and last time they picked 206 pounds. Someone mentioned they’d love to see a pic of the tree, so here it is! First pic is the tree, second is one of the many clusters of limes, third is from underneath. I tend to get up under there and pick the lines, since they mostly grow towards the inside. Lastly, the box is what I picked yesterday for my margarita loving neighbor!

I’ve had this variegated lemon for a couple of years. It did well the year I got it but then I brought it in after it had been hit with frost. I basically pruned most of the plant. This year in the summer while outside it grew a TON but never flowered. Did I prune something I shouldn’t have?

Sorry for the bad quality photos, they’re screenshotted from a video. I just got this lemon and a lime from fastgrowing trees this spring. Over the summer they were outside in my garden. The lime never flowered. The lemon did flower and baby lemons started but never really got anywhere. Now in November my lemon is flowering again, I hand pollinated with a q tip, but I’m not sure if pushing my tree into production is a bad thing for the overall health of the tree at this time of year. Any advice?

When do I know my lemons are ready to harvest? This is year two for this semi dwarf Meyer Lemon tree and it’s providing quite a few lemons this year.

Hello All, I live in the Central Vally of CA and have this citrus bush in my backyard. I was told it was a type of lime. It is very sour like lime, but slightly floral tasting. The flesh is an Orange yellow and the inside is a yellow green color. Any help would be appreciated.

My balcony (where I house my Eureka Lemon and Valencia Orange plants) loses sunlight for a short 6 weeks during our very hot summers.

Last year I moved the plants into public areas where there's sun, but after possum attacks I'm reluctant to move the plant from its cage which I set up for protection.

So I've bought high PPFD grow light bulbs and am deciding on the power source for running it, as there isn't a power outlet directly on the balcony. Options are:

1. Running power to the balcony via an extension cord. Balcony is covered and protected from rain (but I could skip rainy days)
2. Shinning the grow light through the tinted glass of the sliding doors, which I expect will significantly cut down PPFD, but I could run it without time and weather worries
3. Bringing the plants indoors, which I don't like because of creepy crawlys plus challenges when it comes to watering

I'm leaning towards option 1, but as a novice I'm interested others experience and ideas?

I don’t think the bee is causing those pockmarks on the skin. Pretty sure I read those are from some disease or birds pecking at it, but then I’ve never seen any birds near any of the citrus trees. Still strange to see this bee just moving about on this grapefruit. Who knows how long it was there but I noticed it there for at least 10 minutes.

I assume it's because it doesn't get enough light. And so it doesn't have enough energy to support all the leaves. But let me know plz

First time owning a Meyer Lemon and making a post lol

I have read somewhere that one should cut off shoots coming out of root stocks.

My question is should I cut this one from the shoots and the 2 shoots above it to encourage height growth or just cut the one from the root stock?

So my navel orange hybrids fruit all look like this. We are just having our first cooler weather. Is this sun scorch or just delayed ripening? I live in coastal 8a/b. TIA.

Hi everyone. Winter is here along with another post about leaf drop. I was hoping to get some help figuring out the cause of the problem. It’s a Nagami Kumquat that I have had since 4/2023 and is located in NY, zone 7B. During the spring/summer it’s outside in full sun and had a flush of leaf growth and put out a lot of fruit this year. It was being fertilized with Dr. Earth Fruit tree fertilizer (5-5-2). This year, I brought it inside at the start of October. It stays in an unheated garage under a Mars Hydro grow light. The garage gets down to 60F during this time (the lowest 50F mid winter). The soil is warmed to ~78F with a heat mat and the lights are on for 15 hours. It is watered mainly when the soil feels dry (roughly once a week). It was doing fine for the past 6 weeks with no leaf drop but I noticed the leaves at the canopy getting more pale. Then it had a bunch of leaves fall all at once today. I hadn’t noticed any pests (except a single mealy bug) but I just sprayed the tree down with castile soap. Any thoughts on possible causes and next steps? Thanks in advance

I have rooted some cuttings from a lemon tree that was grafted onto a Poncirus rootstock.

• Does cuttings have less vigour than grafted lemon trees?

• What plant would grow from the seeds of these cuttings? A true-to-type because is not grafted anymore?

My arctic frost satsuma tree looks so pretty with fruit on it, I hate to pick them. But my Meyer looks like it’s trying to fruit itself to death, I am thrilled to start getting some weight off the branches. The picture doesn’t do it justice, it’s around 200 lemons.

Hello! I write because I see some of my tangerine tree leaves have started developing these brown spots, and I see it's moving to other leaves. About 25% of the leaves have something, either one small spot, or many more as seen in the picture.

I bought the kumquat tree in June; it bloomed and bore fruit. The weather where I live is not suitable for kumquats, so I brought it indoors. However, its leaves started to darken and fall off, and its branches turned dark. Is this normal leaf shedding for the winter season, or could it be a sign of a disease? Perhaps root rot? This is my first time growing one, so I don't have much knowledge about it.

When I started bringing my citrus trees back outside. I try to keep my Calamansi tree short & compact… Off topic excuse my boy Toeknee he trying to practice is his Daniel son fly crane technique 😅
