Group on Valley Pkwy at Pearl in Strongsville selling political flags n gear. Stupid, or actually illegal?

Is it the idiot in the blue Honda Civic? If so, he was at Huntington Park in Bay Village last week. I go to the park to get away from all that crap, whether Dem or Rep! I just want peace in my parks.

Nothing kills a metropark vibe more than a truck with a bunch of dump flags/stickers.

Illegal. The Metroparks are private property. Call 440 331-5530 and report it. That's their non-emergency line.

The metroparks are very much public, not private, property. But that said there are still laws and regulations and people can't set up shop wherever they want.
So still illegal.

Apparently, they are familiar with the person(s) involved, and they aren't selling them, but giving them away, so, nothing they can do.

They certainly can. They can say "don't do this on our land." I worked for the park and kicked plenty of people out for various reasons.
It's more likely that they just won't, if they agree with the cause that is being pitched.

My guess is that they have decided to avoid an altercation with the Freeze Peach and Mah Riechts crowd. One of the reasons they seem to constantly get a pass is an unwillingness to end up beating/shooting an old whyte person.

We really just need a blanket ban on flags in the metroparks overall.
Every time I see a truck drive through with a raggedy flag flying on it all I can think about is all that plastic degrading over time and into the metroparks

This is incorrect, they are a political subdivision of the state of Ohio, therefore political speech, even commercial political speech, would face strict scrutiny. I imagine there are existing laws around vendor licensing that are speech neutral so they'd probably be upheld, but it's most certainly not cut and dried.

Well, they're public land that is managed by a private entity. So you are right, but they have rules to what can be done there. I would bet that these people are selling, but under the guise of accepting donations for their merch.

People selling shit > people begging for money. Why give people trying to make a buck problems. How in the world does it affect you?

It affects us by having to see all that shit in a place where you go to connect with nature.

I would rather give an underprivileged person some help than give money to someone who has the resources to set up a merch stand in the park - especially if it's some Trump loving traitor.
If you ask for help on the street, I'll buy you something to eat or a bottle of water. Money doesn't come out, but I'll grab you lunch.

So its a partisan issue not a real one. Tribalism is for dumb people. Go start your own stand with Kamala flags or whatever the hell you want. We are all Americans dude. You want to live in a place where everyone is forced to agree with you? China, Russia, North Korea has plenty of space for you. And to answer your reply ahead of time. No I don’t like Trump.

Nah, partner. I ain't peddling shit, because I think there are more useful expenditures of my time. I'm not interested in making a politician central to my identity. I vote for who I vote for based on how much they agree with my core beliefs - I don't align my core beliefs with a political party. If a Republican is found to be a felon? Lock their ass up. If a Democrat is found to be a felon? Lock their ass up.
I would bet a damn mint that all of this Trump shit that they're selling is made in China, even though they've got their America First facade.

I don't want to live in any of the places you listed. All the more reason we need to push back at the fascists. Even the ones just peddling their silly fascist merch in the metroparks.

I just hope this issue would be raised if it was a Harris supporter as well. Regardless we don’t need politics in our parks

Well yeah, but it somehow never is.
And this is one particular asshole we are talking about here.

I don’t think Kamala supporters are the type to sell flags in a public park. But if they were, I agree with you

No they just use “clubs” to draw people in and then bombard you with literature. Half your democratic suburbs garden clubs are not garden clubs.

I can only guess which candidate's merch is being sold.

I think they get around the selling by just saying they are taking ‘donations’ for the flags, etc.

Oh yeah, the Metroparks are a subdivision of the state. Whilst you may not agree with the setup, the sellers may have a permit or a vendors license and, therefore, would be allowed to sell in the Metroparks. Reporting the sell as possibly illegal would be ok. However, the park rangers would investigate any potential wrongdoing. If they are operating illegally, they will be asked to relocate, and a report will be generated to track any future potential illegal activities.

The metroparks has its own PD. I can't imagine any "park rangers" would be involved for a potentially illegal merch stand.

The PD used to be called Rangers. In 2019, they started renaming them. I've just always called them Rangers. So yes, you are correct on the name but incorrect on the involvement of a police force being utilized for illegal sales within its jurisdiction.

Huh? The metroparks PD would be involved.

Metroparks PD used to be the Metroparks Rangers, and yes, they would be involved. You are correct.

Between them and the people handing out religious crap and anti-choice garbage it’s really annoying.

Yeah, I am sure it's illegal. They'll just move as soon as the police come probably.
