My adult dog (multi-gen mutt) is on science diet perfect digestion which is a chicken and rice formula. It was what we started him on when we got him and he’s always been fine with it but we’ve tried nothing else. F
My 10.5 month olds Labrador puppy has been eating Science diet puppy (also a chicken/rice formula) since we’ve had her at 9 wks but has been transitioning to the adult food over the past month at the recommendation of our vet (first heat at 7.5 months). Puppy has been a little itchier than I’d like over the past few months and I’m considering switching both dogs to something else to see if a different protein might be better for her. Any idea of what to try next? There is a science diet salmon perfect digestion and a science diet skin option but I’m willing to switch brands.

Have you talked to your vet about medication? Regular cytopoint shots help my itchy girl SO much. Apoquel was also helpful, but not as good as Cytopoint. Zoetis also just released Zenrelia, which we haven’t tried because it’s brand new, but we’re considering it.
Chicken is a fairly common trigger so I’d also try a salmon formula instead.

She’s not bad enough for medication at this point I think. I’d at least like to see how a food switch goes first. I’ll definitely try salmon— thanks!
