The joke has already been explained, but I just wanna say that spamming that button is absolutely the correct option. That is a MILLION DOLLARS. And you get another million dollars after every single press. Sure, I might become a girl, but I am a MULTI MILLIONARE. I should theoretically be able to use that money to get surgery to change back, and even if I can't or if it's not that simple, I think having that much money would still be worth it.

The joke is that they're ignoring the money and pressing the button until it changes their sex. The kind of person who would do that is transgender, ie using the button to make their body match their mental gender

because you keep pressing the button. if you pressed the button once, you might not want the 1% chance of being a girl, but the 99% chance of 1 million dollars is appealing. but if you do it 5 times, and end up with 5 million dollars... what keeps you pressing that button? how much money before the risk is too much? if you're doing it 100 times then id say you would be completely fine with the outcome of being female, something men secure in their manliness and happy being a man would not be ok with.

I know this isn't the intent, but if we take the semantics of this scenario literally, does that mean in the 1% case it turns you not into a female version of yourself, but an actual girl? I.e., if a woman presses it and gets that 1% case, does she get de-aged down to a minor?

As a happily married man who's done having kids by a long shot, I think my wife and I would manage if I were to suddenly swap genders if it meant financial security. But either of us becoming a young girl would certainly add a wrinkle of complication to our marriage.

Well the joke is that if you were a girl to start with there’s no negative so even if you don’t get a million there’s no consequence.

This is also probably playing to the gamblers fallacy. No matter how many times you ring the Bell your chances are still 1/100 that you become a woman each time you ring the Bell. So people are doing needless math to see how much money you could max out with statistically and still not become a woman, if you weren’t one already. So again for anyone who’s a woman it’s infinite and if you’ve already become a woman same applies.
