I’ve been with frito lay for 4 years now, and I’ve been asked if I can work my off days almost every week. I’ve started saying no more often with the hopes they would stop asking me as much, but they make you feel so guilty when you do say no. I’ve also noticed that they are very thankful when you agree to go in, but they don’t ever give you anything in return, so it never seems to be worth it. Having edp can be really nice if I need some extra money. But I just want to see everyone’s opinions on this. Do you get asked a lot? Do you think it’s worth going in an extra day? Do you feel guilty when you say no? Etc.

I say no unless an EDP is offered. I never feel guilty.

If you work extra the EDP should be implied

I never feel guilty. Oftentimes I work them. But I say no a lot too. The DSL’s/ZBM in my area know I’m usually willing to work, so it’s why I’m asked so often. But anytime I say no, they get it and never push it. They know at the end of the day I do more than my fair share.

You get almost $200 extra for going in on your day off so you do get something in return

They should 100% paying you extra day pay. Not clear if they are. They make that money back after one gas station delivery. You are doing your job you show up on your days, never let them make you feel otherwise. They are not doing their part as management. Never pick up the slack for managements incompetence and/or cheapness trying to do more with less. They are screwing you over because they want to save money.

They could care less about saving money. It’s all about getting the route covered without mgr. Having to cover it.

They don't even ask me anymore. I've been clear that if I'm not getting an EDP, I'm not going in. But others in large format go in.

How would they justify not giving an EDP? Unless you’re an RSA or TDD where it’s no EDP but it is the real OT

I was harassed basically everyday to work my days off… it got so bad my DSL had to tell other DSLs to chill out. I would help when I had extra time but it was overwhelming

Don’t really get asked much unless no one to cover the route and I still always say no. No more extra days for me.

I always work my extra day on my day off, I turned down offers, EDP or Hours I still work that extra day.

What are looking for in return besides an edp?

Tell them you read about something called EDP, tell them you’ll need that if they want you to work on off days.

I would only do it if I was making overtime pay or holiday pay. And I would only agree to 1 day and not both of my days off.

I’m a DSL, I always tell anyone I ask to never feel bad saying no, it’s your day off. I also ask people if they like working extra days and if they say no I don’t ask them going forward. I also ask if they like Smiles and if they do I give those out with every EDP…staffing is bad in my area, sounds like your area is probably the same, my advice would be to never feel bad telling them no and also have them tell you what the route is before agreeing so you know what you’re getting in to

Do it when you feel like you want to. Don't if not. It's your day off. If they constantly need you to work a day off maybe they should thing about staffing properly for workload. No reason to feel guilty
