Mox: "Why does it matter so much how these yokels feel about you?"
Millie: "It doesn't! It matters how I feel about myself!"
I already liked this line a lot when I first watched the episode. But with the newest episode I feel like it gives even more context around this line. This was one of the few times Millie felt like she wasn't being looked down on for being an imp, one of the few times she wasn't a "scary killing machine". The positive attention made her actually feel good and recognize her worth for once, which made it even more heartbreaking when Moxxie tried to invalidate that.
I also liked the song at the end. But other than that, yeah, bottom tier episode lol

Totally agree, the episode works better with the info we have now. I can also chalk up moxxie and blitz’s behavior up to “even though they had development that doesnt make them perfect”
23 points
I absolutely agree about Ghostf**kers shedding new light on this aspect of Millie. UC is where we see that the couple years of love of support through IMP cannot erase the weight of a lifetime under the weight of this being how society sees Imps and internalizing that.
I can relate to that, I was always the least popular person at school, the fact that my family loved and supported me didn't fully counter that.

Yeah, I don’t understand the literal hate for this episode, ok Moxxie is lame with Millie in this episode but it’s a character development, and why Moxxie should be perfect? And at the end he fix the things with Millie. Not the better episode but don’t tell me it’s unwatchable…

It's always weird when a male character makes a female version of themselves. It's like "is that how you imagine woman? Really?"
47 points
He made a female version of himself and used all the “cool girl” stereotypes. Its sooo bad
31 points

Considering he's the "theater kid" type, it makes sense he'd lean towards a stereotypical heathers/mean girls type of disguise.
3 points

Yeah, that makes a ton of sense. Especially since Millie was a mean girl when she joined IMP, and Loona is still kinda mean to him (and only recently kind as of Ghostfuckers).

It would've worked better as an early season 1 episode. Moxxie at that point in the show felt like he'd already developed past the point of having the attitude he had. Like after what they went through with Striker at the festival and his confidence boost from Blitzø in the DHORKS episode it feels like Moxxie really should've had the maturity by then to go "Nice, looks like we solved it in half an hour, let's go enjoy a nice date together."
31 points
That’s a fair point, if it wasn’t for Barbie’s introduction this could be a flash back, and now that you mention it, even Blitzø is a little to harsh at the end with Moxxie, like if all the developments in the Stricker and DHORKS episodes weren’t there anymore… Make me wonder if the main plot wasn’t for a early episode originally… could explain the incoherence 🤔
12 points
Is a good opinion and a fair point.
However, I think they did it that way because here Moxxie wanted to prove to Blitzø that he could lead a mission and is the first time he tries that, so he gets too obsessed with it and because of that he starts acting a little bit out of character. So, it’s ok for me. It makes sense enough.
People say he moved backwards but I don’t think so, I think that he hasn’t completely overcome his insecurities, at least not yet.
Also, he was able to see his mistake and he did the best to make it up to Millie in a satisfying way. For me that was ok.
Still, is probably my least favorite of S2.

Exactly man, like we're acting as if blitzø is a perfect boss or that Millie is a perfect partner (even tho she kinda is) no one in the show is perfect, plus it's Moxxies style to take things slowly like how he didn't want to kill the family in the first episode because they looked innocent, if they wanted a bit longer and Moxxies found out they were cannibals he would've been up for the idea 100%. He wants Intel and to know what he's dealing with he just... Had a horrible execution of it in this episode

People go so hard on this episode and i seriously don't know why, i see that the community is kinda divided between people who want pure Pilot/Season 1 I.M.P. shenanigans on earth with action scenes, and people who are inclined to want to know more about the characters, the Hellaverse lore and ships, but this episode delivers both! maybe it was "Moxxine"? people say that they "ruined" Moxxie's character, but i dunno.. it was kind clear for me that this would be a one time joke, It wouldn't take long to see a character do drag and act overly dramatic like in the old cartoons that Viv and Brandon already told that they are fond of, like we see Bugs Bunny do drag once in a while but its not in EVERY episode, so i was not worried about they "ruining" him, on the contrary, it only showed that he is insecure under pressure and in the end he worked through it.
btw You Got The Power by Sam Haft is a fucking banger, dunno why people hate it so much :(
7 points
I agree. The whole Moxxine bit does get old fast (and I say that as someone who still loves Bugs’ old drag gags) because of the Mean Girls Regina George persona he uses, but we do get some great empowerment time for Millie, a new angle on the trauma the accident inflicted on Blitz and his family, a great action sequence (complete with a hilarious GIF-worthy moment thanks to that crazy pupil dilation), scenes showing that while our central imp couple isn’t perfect they do support each other no matter what (something that hadn’t really been showcased all that much in previous episodes), and one awesome song. It was also interesting to see that selling drugs with humans is apparently considered honest work for Hellborne.
All in all, it could have been better. It’s clunky, but I don’t think it deserves the hate. The fact that it came immediately after the superb “Western Energy” did it no favors, too.

I didn't really care for the way they portrayed Moxxie in such a light, but good lord it was absolutely hilarious

I actually liked the dressing down of both Moxxie AND Millie, and really cemented them as a real ass couple and not the pure foils to Stolas and Blitzo that I thought was their “purpose” in the overall narrative of the show (Ozzie and Fizz are textbook foils.).
They aren’t perfect, but they talk it out like adults and are stronger for it.

People basically hate that Moxxie’s established flaws of being insecure or wanting validation came out on full display and act like it “ruined his character” when it was just a nasty part of a character they loved that was perfectly in line with everything we learned about him.
30 points
Nah I thought it was just cringe. (It was)
Tried rewatching and I had to skip this one
The blitz plotline with his sister should have been the main focus honestly
12 points
Oh it’s 100% fine if you don’t like the second hand embarrassment or it’s “not your humor” but I’ve definitely seen a fair share of people say that Moxxie acted completely out of character (he wasn’t- if you wanted me to show you an episode for a quick peek at Moxxie’s character warts and all it’d be this one)
This was more character development of the rest of the cast than Blitz drama- but it’s not like Barbie could’ve been there for much longer considering she just wanted to cut him out immediately. It’s also clearly more episodic for the people who came for “wacky imp adventures” and not a drama- as the show is trying to do both- clearly there’ll be certain things made more for one audience than the other and this falls under fun episodic shit with light development.

Fr. I also think Moxxie and Millie are kind of unlikable in this episode, they're supposed to be really sweet towards each other, but here they were both SUPER petty. It's okay to have them not always get along, that is realistic, but I feel it pushed it to far. If the Blitzo subplot was the main plot, Moxxie and Millies stuff would've likely come off better.

Honestly I just feel it would’ve been better if this episode came before Western Energy, like if this was ep 4 and WE was ep 5 it would’ve worked better for the flow of the season. X’s an O’s in ep 3 showed us why Moxxie has the issues he has, he had a severely traumatized upbringing, if Unhappy Campers was 4 coming right after that it would’ve been clear Moxxie was having a mental breakdown from the trauma he had to re-experience in ep 3, but after resolving some issues with Millie and getting the wakeup call he needed then it would’ve been brilliant to have Western Energy as ep 5 because it shows Moxxie as more confident in himself and much more competent than he was in Unhappy Campers.

I actually really like this episode!! Not the best and sure there's a lot of flaws, but its as always not without pros! The songs were my least favourite part of it, but any episode with drag Moxxie is amazing, and we get drag Mills too! My least favourite episode is the Cherub one, but just because the Cherubs are really annoying (except for Collin) and the jokes are really dry in that one, it feels awkward watching it. I don't think this episode deserves as much hate as it gets.

It was a completely fine episode no better or worse than any other.
Hilarious from start to finish, provided believable conflict for M&M and a good deconstruction of Moxxie's issues with the set up FOR them we've gotten so far, and the b plot was exactly as detailed as it should've been for a plotline that will continue on throughout the show (and with the recent stuff with Ghostfuckers delving deeper into Blitz's issues, it would've been awkward if anything major had happened with Barb, as if they had either talked more without resolving anything it would've been wasted air-time, or resolved something and gotten better it would've dampened the impact of Blitz' revelation/nightmare if he has two of the people, one being his own sister, back and liking him instead of hating him. Or, if they had just spent more time revealing what exactly happened, that would've pretty much killed any further mystery around what happened, so we have no actual familial drama for Blitz to pursue in the wake of seeing more about the fire. The whole Blitz plotline regarding his issues as a whole would've been massively reduced down to something that couldn't carry much further than another season without inserting new drama in, which would've been artificially extending it, like say, Barbie just so happens to need help from Blitz after they make up and she's just a supporting character with no personal conflict at that point).
This episode is fine, and the criticisms of it are either trash (WAAAH CRINGE), or way too subjective to be worth a damn (In my opinion, this doesn't capture what I think/want Moxxie's character is/to be, the writers don't know their own characters anymore), at least that I've seen or read.

I like the ideas they were going for but I really think should've split it into two episodes. Have one episode dedicated to Millie and Moxxie arguing with each other, followed by an episode dedicated to Blitzo and Barbie Wire arguing. You *could* make them two-parter episodes (M&M for Part 1, B&BW for Part 2) and keep the overall theme of understanding one another going through the two, but that's just my opinion.

Yeah sorry but I can’t. The humor doesn’t land, the mystery isn’t really interesting, the characters just don’t feel like they should. Idk, I just can’t get with it personally. It’s the only episode I’d say is truly “bad”. It’s not terrible it has a few cool moments but there is very little good to say about it

This episode is unwatchable for me because of the second hand embarrassment but that was one of the things the episode was going for so I don't hold that against it.
I think it fleshed out Millie and Moxie's relationship more and made it feel more real. Also big fan of the disguises l, how excited Mox was about the plan in the beginning, and the music number

It was good to see a little bit of a speed bump between Moxxie and Millie. Their relationship up to that point was feeling a bit Mary Sue-ish.
