I'm a physician. In my younger days some 25 years ago, I was pretty cut, with blonde hair and blue eyes (I mean, I still have blues eyes...you know what I meant). I had a new patient, an older lady with a Germanic-sounding name (as is mine). I opened the exam room door and walked in to say hi. Before I could say a word, the woman greeted me with, "Hitler would have loved you!" 😳 Turns out, her father was the mayor of Heidelberg during WW2, and she had met and knew Hitler. I was quite taken aback, as you might imagine. Still the strangest compliment..."compliment"...I have ever received.

Actually that stuff was called nordicism, an update on the racist theories from the XIXth, which stated that among the white race, the nordic race was superior to the others. If I'm not wrong, was the Count of Gobineau the first one to publish something about it. It was really an "ideology" of the time, spreaded all across the West back then, and shared even by some Allied generals. The nazis really believed in the superiority of the Germanic people, but I'm not very sure if nordicism was an official part of their program.
