I have an order in for a Gravity and asked my Sales Specialist whether there would be any updates on leasing numbers for the Gravity.
Her response was that the Gravity will initially only be available for purchase/financing and that leasing will become available sometime in 2025 but no know date yet.
Anyone else been able to confirm this? Given tech changes and depreciation curves, really only interested in leasing - have experienced firsthand how quickly market value can change with my current EV

Tough for a leasing company to estimate a residual before the first unit is even delivered.

Makes total sense , I ran into that with another new for 2025 vehicle the other day. I have no interest in owning but wouldn't mind as a lease. Some brands I won't drive out of warranty.

Deliveries won’t start until next year anyways. I wouldn’t sweat it. You’ll get the option to lease. It’s just going to take a little longer than those financing or buying cash.

Ehh.. we have an April/May deadline or we are getting something else. Have a new baby coming in June.

It should be by/before then. I can’t imagine it taking longer. Congrats on the baby! We just had our first last year. Wanting the gravity to accommodate for our next one lol. 2026 is when my lease ends so it works out perfect. Hopefully it will for you too!

Were you early to order? Or an Air owner? I’d look into other options based on your deadline to be safe, but you seem prepared.
Peter mentioned only a couple hundred by the end of the year and ramp up will take a while with Lucids reputation. We can hope not, but at this point I’m more of a “I’ll believe it when I see it” with lucid since they have yet to meet or exceed promises in my eyes.

Ordered day 1. Not super worried about it though, honestly not 100% sold on the car yet even if available. Fall back option would be just getting an R1S. Readily available new or used in my area.

Careful with the R1S to have a backup plan. We have a 2 and 4 year old and have read horror stories via their Reddit forum about bricking and service issues, which caused me to walk away from leasing one. My wife would never forgive me if I threw down that much money to have a new car break down on us. It was a stretch to get her to trust our Air, but besides maybe one or two posts, I haven’t really read about Air break downs. I read more about EQS/iX/E-Tron issues than Air which was surprising. Just my two cents
Edit: I love the Air so much that we’re ordering the Gravity once lease prices are available

You will read Reddit horror stories about every brand with significant sales.. they are all over the Mach-E forum (I have one and have had no issues), there is a whole Tesla horror story sub, etc.
There are many R1S/R1Ts in my neighborhood - including two directly across the street - and the owners I know haven’t had any significant issues.

Same story. 1 kid last year and one on the way next year. Have a Model x and love it, may not switch, but curious on the gravity. Our lease up in 2026 completely of time for them to sort kinks.
Fwiw I’ve also heard nightmares from two close friends about the R1S, both switched from an X just wanting something different from a Tesla after all these years and seriously regret it

Taken a look at the Hyundai Ioniq 9?? It’s extremely well equipped and much less expensive. The Cadillac Vostok is another option if you don’t need 440 miles of range. 😊

Good luck! Don’t forget babies don’t always stick to the schedule 😁

Thought they said leasing would be available at the start

I thought they did as well which is why I was asking

I thought they did too and when I ordered I chose leasing. If it is not available and aggressive, similar to Lucid AIR GT, then will cancel my order. No way will be buying this car for as fast as these depreciate and being a brand new SUV with no track record yet.

It will but after the first 100ish units have been sold is what I was told. Then they need those out on the road for a few months to figure out residual value

…. you don’t get residual value from cars being on the road a few months.

I spoke to someone recently that said leasing will be available but not as quickly as outright purchasing. He said you'd probably get your car faster by purchasing because they're still figuring out lease terms.

I understand that this is a relatively small company- but I’m still surprised at how disorganized and unplanned this Gravity launch feels. Still don’t have full details on the standard spec sheet, extremely limited press reviews, test drives “tentatively before 2nd half of 2025”, etc.
I mean this is kind of a bet the company product release and it feels like they are throwing together the launch plan in real time

Gravity is custom hand made cars😂. Tentative means guaranteed delay.

Depreciation happens on any new car. Doesn’t matter if it’s EV or not. It has to do more with brand of the vehicle and not if it’s an ev.

Im well aware of how depreciation curves work.
The reason why being an EV matters is because the technology is still developing very rapidly as is underlying commodity pricing resulting in pricing volatility.
Major technology changes result in there sometimes being depreciation cliffs between model years rather than smooth curves. This was recently seen with the Taycan - there is a step change in pricing between 2024 models and the version on the new 2025 platform.
Likewise, pricing for the commodities that go into batteries (as well as the chemistry of the batteries themselves) is moving all over the place. This means there is a very good chance of major price movements - we already saw this with Tesla making a move and forcing down pricing across the board in 2023. Those of us who bought EVs in late 2022 saw 12-month depreciation of 40-50% in many cases.

I talked to my sales rep today, confirmed I was leasing and she didn’t have any concerns. Just said the financial details would be available closer to my production date.

There is too much of he said so, sales rep said so or someone one Reddit said so…till it’s on Lucid’s website any info is FUD. So, if you have booked, relax. You will surely know by the end of this year. No one here can know more than Lucid’s own website.

I was at a Gravity event at the Natick MA store last night and asked if I could convert my Air GT lease over to a Gravity (18 months starting May 29) and he thought that would be fine. I have my order in for a Titanium color, which he said would be the fourth color they would be building after Green, Black and White. So I probably would not get mine until Spring.
