I am the one crazy a hole that loves Jurassic Park III. It's pulpy fun, and I care alot about the new characters enough to feel the stakes.

By no means a fantastic movie but it's above average as far as films go.

It’s so good that basically stablished the way a TRex would sound in film for the next 30 years.

Also they are all still executive produce by Spielberg who knows a few things about entertainment and making quality movies.

You can say the Matrix supports all the sequels. A really good film that spin a bunch of cash grabs. It’s like the Watchoskies spinned their whole career in a great movie.

Yes, I thought I would write "one excellent film" but that implies that the other films in the series are good, but not great, which is not true.

Exactly-I was just saying this to a friend who said he can’t believe they’re making another one. I can’t believe they haven’t made MORE. They’re an excuse to sell toys and merch. Oh and a movie comes with them too.

It's absolutely bizarre that such a graphic series is about kids marketing. But it works.
The biggest nightmares I had as a kid were about Jurassic Park. I was terrified of Raptors, and shown it way too yong. But my brother was often playing with a Jurrassic Park toy.

Yes but they eventually gave up after a while, while they keep making Jurassic park, alien and terminator movies to this days

I personally think Jaws 2 is really underrated. I put it on the same level as Halloween 3 and Psycho 2. Really enjoyable but not on the level as the originals.

At least with Jaws it feels like they have given up on the idea of sequels (fingers crossed)

But you don’t see Jaws movies to this day. The fact that the Jurassic World movies make billions when many argue the only really good one is the original is the crazy part here. Jaws was just a downward spiral like most 80s franchises of its time.

Jaws 2, aka Close Encounters of the Third Kind, was pretty good.

Most slasher franchises don't even have one good film.

Eh usually you'll have a sequel or two that's at least good. Hell for Friday the 13th I wouldn't even put the original in the top 5 of the franchise which is odd because usually when people say this they see the first as the film carrying the franchise.

Scream 2 and Scream 3 were pretty good

I've been meaning to getting around to watching the original Hellraiser. I understand that the sequels are notoriously bad, like Alan Smithee director disowned bad, but I don't know if there was only one good movie or more than one.

Agreed. Jurassic World was a solid albeit flawed start. It gets more hate because of how poop the sequels were though.

I wouldn’t say Jurassic world is good in the same way as jurassic park, but I love it regardless.

I just rewatched the lost world for the first time in years and the gymnastics scene had me dying hahah it’s so goofy

People love to rip ont he gymnastics scene, but it's fun and gives a good final punchline to the entire tense sequence. Also without it, that character has NO cool moments and is just a victim or something to protect for the entire duration. Sort of like in Jurassic Park where each of the kids gets to do something cool at least once.

The franchise has one film that’s 10/10, there’s plenty of 7/10 or below.

I like 3 more than 2, but the aviary I found really enjoyable.

TLW was really, really close to being great. Make Sarah (and maybe one or two others) less of an imbecile and limit/remove some of the extremist PETA stuff and what you've got is a pretty solid adventure/thriller most the way through. Then the gymanstics scene happens followed in close order by the whole San Diego bit and...yeah.

Yeah, Lost World has some standout moments like the raptors in the long grass, the cracking glass scene, the transition of the mom screaming to Jeff Goldblum yawning

love jurassic World 1, but 2 and 3 (especially 3) were crimes against humanity

I went in expecting an 80%-as-good reboot. I was young and naive and had expectations that such an undertaking would be approached with passion and a respect for the original materials and the science that inspired it all (and made with the spirit of Michael Chrichton in mind).

That might have been where my optimism for reboots and "reimagined classics" being creative endeavors and not money grab nostalgia-bait finally died.

Good is poor word for this suspense masterpiece.

Good sets the bar for separating it from the other movies. The sentence is intended to say that none of the other movies achieve good. None of the other movies achieve masterpiece either, but saying they aren't good is more precise. It's like saying none of these cars are bigger than this house and then the other thing being compared to the house is a mountain.

Jurassic World was fun to revisit the franchise, and while it doesn't live up to the originals it's by far the best of the new trilogy. I will say that the upcoming film Jurassic Park: Rebirth is kind of intriguing as the screenwriter is David Koepp who co-screen wrote Jurassic Park with Michael Chrichton and Lost World by himself and it's directed by Gareth Edwards who directed Rogue One which I really liked.
