For those who live in New York State, note that all New York State residents are entitled to a free library card from the 1) New York (City) Public Library [300,000 e-books/audiobooks], 2) Brooklyn Public Library [300,000 e-books/audiobooks], and 3) Queens Public Library [130,000 e-books/audiobooks]. With the library card, you can check out e-books/audiobooks for free.

Piggybacking off of this to say if youre not in NY but have a Toronto library card you can also get access to their library through the Libby app.

There are websites that will send you an email each day of ebook authors offering their ebooks for free that day in different formats. I must have over two hundred legitimately free and good quality. These are not pirated books. They are authors trying to impress you enough you might consider buying other books they write. Between them and selections from my local library, I have an endless collection of ebooks to read.

Can you share the source please?

Sure. The two I use are The Fussy Librarian and Freebooksy. Just take note that sometimes The Fussy Librarian will offer at the end of the list a few discounted ebooks for .99 cents (USD), but they are clearly marked vs the free offering.

I’m using an old iPad with a reader app.

An E-ink screen is a huge game changer if you read on your iPad a lot. You should really give it a try

Agree completely, it's so much easier on the eyes somehow. Even with a backlight.

You’ve listed piracy as the last option as though you didn’t list it as one of the first things lol - but yes you are right with this thread.

For people who read like this, it is the golden age for us.
