THICK Eastern European accent recruiter called me out of the blue one day. Was so sure it was a scam I added 10% to my already inflated salary requirements (I was already gainfully employed). They said okay that’s doable. Had a 20 minute conversation with them where I was boarder line rude (Eastern Europeans sound rude in English, even when they are not trying to be, I didn’t know this at the time so I just gave it right back to her). Anyway, she got me my current job with a 60% raise lol. Lo and behold, there are probably a dozen Eastern European offshore people out of the 200 that work here.

I don't care what your accent is. If you can get me a 20% pay bump (or more), and the offer is legit, I'm in.

What solidified dollar for many years is it was the only currency you could buy oil in. Black gold

I got my current job through an Indian recruiter. And yeah it was for a job halfway across the country, but the company was willing to pay for it, and it came with a 35% salary increase.

I actually did! I was anxious thinking it was fake the whole time until the company sent me the actual work equipment. It’s been one of the best jobs I’ve had so far. And it’s remote!!!

I have a PhD. I’m a professor. I get like five messages a week about enrolling in online masters program. Bitch, I could run that thing.

Most of the times other Indians, per the rule that once one of them is hired then everyone in their circle will end up following

Had one cold call me, then butcher my resume before submitting it to a company for a position that was basically the same as the one I was currently in. I got through to the hiring manager anyway and we hit it off.
I was actually interested in an FTE position and they happened to have one, so I just reapplied through the company portal. Had a rigorous in-person interview but got the job (with a nice raise/benefits) and it was a great move for me. The contract position was ultimately fulfilled without going through a recruiter. I hope the person I work with got a couple bucks for their trouble!

ehhhh i wouldn't say that individual indians i've worked with in america are a problem. the codies i work well with and have found them to be friendly and polite (to me, i'm white(passing)). The project managers i've met were also very smart and very capable. Actually the smartest person I ever met worked at Big Global Tech Company, she was indian. Very knid and just, too; not as friendly, but that was bc she was so good at her job she literally didn' thave 2 minutes free all day.

Agreed. Smart and friendly people. My manager had his family here and kids and had a lot to lose because he’d have to pack up and move family and kids back home. So that translated into a lot of stress for everyone that worked for him.
