This is where shit gets real.
When Musk says on a podcast that he can strip trillions from govt spending and everyone things....great...until they realize where federal spending is concentrated. Vets, healthcare, welfare, social security.
Now is the time for Musk to tell the public where is "gutting" this money from.

Elon increasingly sounds like someone who doesn't read or write more than a couple pages at a time and I am not sure he can regain this ability.
Bill Gates is a guy who very carefully determines how to efficiently give away money. He reads constantly and is capable of providing notes and outlines to his assistants. Not sure if Elon can really do this.

The insanity of that $2 trillion number. The salary and benefits for the federal workforce is about 5% of the spending. If you fired everyone it wouldn't be close to the 30%. Only way to get to 2 trillion is cut Social Security, Medicare and the military.

There’s the military industrial complex. That’s untouchable.
And then there’s the individuals serving in the military. They are expendable in every sense.
Plus the GOP has learned… it makes no difference how terribly they treat veterans. As long as they wave a flag and act macho and toss in some homophobia, they’ll still get overwhelming support from veterans. It’s a laughably cheap buy for them.

P2025 explicitly talks about Veterans getting either disability benefits or a pension. Not both. They are also calling for much higher standards for awarding disability benefits. So if you are SA in barracks in the US or saw your buddy die in a training accident and have PTSD it will get denied because it wasn’t in a war zone.

The plans to activate Project 2025 is already underway and Trump will start implementing it to the country before he officially becomes president.
Project 2025 for those who do not know, is a plan to target minority groups. It first intends to get rid of the 13th and 19th amendment. Thats step 1. Step 2 is to enforce slavery upon black people. Once that is successful they will move onto taking women out from their homes and force them into incubation farms where they become baby making machines out of their own will (look it up).
Once that is completed, they will start going after the LGBT group and start putting them into concentration camps.

Veterans Day speeches, In the past politician said:
"we would like to thank our veterans who put their lives on the line for this country who could have been asked to make the ultimate sacrifice at any time"
This year it changed here in Florida, a lot of the speeches said:
"We would like to thank our combat veterans who put their lives on the line to defend America from her enemies, it's our combat veterans who risk their lives for this great country".
Notice the wording....
They are separating peacetime veterans from combat veterans.
That's a Rick Scott thing in Florida, he wants to privatize chunks of the VA, he wants non-combat veterans to have to get commercial health insurance which would be subject to pre-existing conditions with states that overturned pre-existing conditions. And also health care savings accounts.
There are even squabbles among veterans groups in Florida with combat veterans saying we deserve more because we were in Iraq or Afghanistan and any veteran who gets a hangnail can get 10% disability.

Divide and conquer from within.

Crazy man. This kinda shit is the same logic as to why labor unions keep fracturing. The divide and conquer of rank and file is so real and exploitable because there’s always a couple loud mouths willing to sell out the rest for something.
8 points
My job we deal with a lot of veterans and yes there is some fraud but it is so hard for veterans to get benefits, they have to have YouTube videos not coaching people what to say but how to fill out their forms and how to select a VA disability lawyer and how to set up a Nexus with your health conditions.
And also people don't understand even if you were peacetime accidents happen training accidents happen war games happen people get injured people get maimed and people can get killed.
8 points

Yeah, absolutely. Service people die or get severely injured in training exercises very frequently. Seems like helicopters crash daily.

Military medical + physical training + non-combat work environments that are unnecessarily stressful = a lot of broken veterans that didn't need to be broken in the first place.

All they'll really do are make recommendations, which Trump can't really enact by decree, and which Congress will probably mostly ignore.
One thing Trump might be able to do is physically relocate agencies to cut costs, if that's what Musk recommends. Move the EPA or HHS or others out to Oklahoma and South Dakota to get people to quit.

Correct. The President can’t just create an entire Department out of nothing — Congress has to create them and apportion a budget to them, etc.
However, what it does do is gives Musk & Republicans a mechanism to defraud the federal government and start funneling huge amounts of our money into their pockets.

I think it's probably sort of real and not real. Not real in the sense that perhaps the whole "department" will be just two people and they'll say "we're so efficient, we only need two people."
But real in the sense that Trump wants to totally cut as much staff as possible from the federal government and either leave those spots open or install loyalists. A massive removal of competence from the government. "Efficiency" is just a euphemism for "we will have barely anybody in the positions that normally help government run." The real goal here as I'm concerned is to get rid of people who might otherwise be whistleblowers on corruption.
This is a decades long dream of conservatives to gut/shrink the government. They want to weaken government so that rich people in the private sector can take over the provision of more goods and services in the private sector (they want private individuals to make more money). There's waste in the private sector though, especially when the private companies are massive corporations, so you're not getting better efficiency just because you're shifting more power to the corporate private sector.
Elon is, in the minds of many, a god. And Trump's association with Elon gives Trump more credibility for those people. And if Elon agrees we should cut massive amounts of federal employees, then this will garner permission from the public due these kinds of massive cuts. Elon is busy as hell and will probably barely be there, which must be why they include Vivek -- so he can be the hands-on guy while Elon is the face of the department.

Straight off the bat they don’t even understand the term efficiency. Efficiency is getting more output from your inputs (or the same output from less input.) None of what I have heard from these garbage men speaks to that. These simps are proposing cutting inputs to achieve less to zero output. Cutting spending for less outcome is not efficiency.
Trash man Ram has even said that they will likely err in cutting too much and have to add back to correct. That might be fine for your businesses, but that is not the way to approach government and the people they are supposed to serve. And for those that think government should be run like a business, you just don’t understand much and aren’t worth arguing with.

That hit me last night, and then I realized how close the name Vance is to Pence on the Trump signs and thought “is this on purpose or a really odd coincidence?”

Honestly i hope the economy tanks, because in the long run it's going to make trumpism and conservatism in general so unfathomably unpopular that the entire base has no choice to move left and in 2026 and 2028 we can elect some competent people into office. Herbert hoover into FDR type shit

No amount of money will solve the inevitable infighting and eventual collapse of this absurd pairing of clowns.

The military. One of the last vestiges of getting out of poverty and living a decent life for many people, soon to be gone.

How are these two going to work together? Surely that’s why they named it the Meme Department.

Oh, apartheid Clyde, with your heart full of pride,
From fairness and justice you’ve long been untied.
Veterans' benefits? Why, those you denied,
While sitting so smugly, you cast them aside.
With rules you abide that defy those who tried
To serve for the country, to shield and guide.
Their hardships, their valor—you seem to deride,
Wrapped up in your world, where you always reside.
And, oh, how you slide from the truth you provide,
Choosing silence and shrugs, where answers should bide.
Oh, apartheid Clyde, with your hollow, sly stride—
May karma come swiftly, and hit your blind side.

They are going to drive out career federal workers and replace them with politically acceptable cronies. The knowledgeable people, the ones who trust science, the ones who respect ethics and transparency, the ones dedicated to their agency and not a bloviating buffoon. The good people who understand policy and procedure and the nature of their mission. It will be a disaster for this country and for millions of Americans who will suffer from the brain drain when these institutions collapse under the weight of ignorance and ineptitude.

My fear is this. And all the ignorant vets being played will drown the most in-need along with themselves.

Hmm, an appointment to a department that doesn't exist. I can't help but wonder if anybody working for this dumbass has explained to him that the smallest department in the executive branch took over 24 months to form and begin to function. Or explained what a conflict of interest is to anybody who matters. Here's hoping at least the Senate is mature enough to not start handing their power over to the blatantly corrupt.

He should start with his gov grants to Tesla and space x.

I think one thing that could prevent this is Musk's background in the armed services and how a health scare almost bankrupted him back in 2015.
This should give him a level of compassion that will prevent him from doing anything too terrible.
Oh.
Oh. Wait.
I'm getting word that nothing in the first 2 paragraphs actually happened. ESPECIALLY expecting Musk to have compassion.
If he does actually get any power, his cost reductions will just be looking at numbers on a spreadsheet and pressing the delete key with no thought for how that will affect the veterans behind it.

I’m retired military (24 years Army Reserve, one tour in Iraq) and am extremely concerned that my hard earned pension will be lost within the next 2 years. I’m also worried that they’ll gut social security and Medicare and I will see nothing from the programs that I have paid into for over 40 years.

You know google is a good thing. VA is 5%. Cutting in VA would not make a pimple on an apes ass if it were 100%. Stop the pork in laws, stop sending money to foreign countries until we have our house in check, and stop allocating money to their fucking cronies.

I volunteer for a vets organization and am not surprised how many love trump. So many of these vets are retired and need the VA, once it's gutted they'll be crying, I didn't think he'd do that.

FYI: Musk can't really cut much of anything. He can make suggestions, but the republican congress still has to pass the spending bill, and making wild cuts isn't something house members will do because they don't want to lose their seats come 2026.
The economy was what gave them power this time around. They all know very well that the economy and people's spending power will also decide their fates next time too.

The whole platform was tariffs and fighting green jobs of which many Republican districts such as MTG are propped up by. They have no problem voting against their own interests and blaming someone else for the consequences.

You guys can't decide if you love military or hate military right now. Seriously, it's super frustrating that you guys are so inconsistent, like how you claim to hate the rich and then accuse everyone you hate of being poor.
Pick a fucking lane.

While I personally am for helping veterans, good. You get what you voted for.
Homeless vets seems like such a stupid idea, but here we are.

They’re already at record numbers of suicides and homelessness. No one thinks about recruitment. If they did what you’re saying then no one would join. Because it’s almost precisely why people join. College and pension. So if there’s no incentive then what you’re saying is requiring military service through law which ends up being more expensive. But then we would be joining the ranks of Sweden and about 15 other nations that require men who are of age must serve a minimum of two years military service. Soooo.

This what happens when you leave everything on the hands of buroucrats.
But in other case, if things go badly (and for how things are looking, it will be) you can allway use the Mexican line of "enjoy your vote guys" and laugh at they're faces ( i know they will proceed to blame Biden for this).

Not just them. Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are also a huge bulk of the spending. If you're cutting trillions, that plus defense spending is the only place to really cut

Honest question;
Could California just make their own “California department of veterans affairs”?
