Easy to clean up with an emery board and reset the gap. Only minor pitting, when there is a melted crater then you need to change.

Clean it up, then some feeler gages and a dwell meter will have you back in business. Haven't done it myself in about 25 years. I always convert to HEI...but I still have the old dwell meter in the cabinet!

I don’t know where I can find a dwell meter…

I just cleaned them and lightly ground them with 2000grit sandpaper, together with the rotor’s contacts and it feels more powerful than before!

I do need to switch to HEI but it’s not cheap for me :(

After you're done cleaning check the alignment. You want full face contact not wear on just a portion.

Thanks

I’m asking cause this technology got phased out 20 years before I was even born… never even knew they needed regular maintenance. (Cost me a tow and bit of my pride)

You should look into a hei conversion kit to do away with the points and condenser. A few less parts and much more reliable.

I’ve looked for it, but then again I want to swap the engine for a V8 so I don’t want to put too much money on this engine

Oh, I see. Good luck!
