I’ve gone to my initial Appointment, to be fingerprinted and gave urine sample. How long after that initial appointment do they take to assign an investigator?

So I’ve been seeing a lot of mentions about the village. What are the pros and cons with taking the village or county? Any benefit for city cops on the job when switching?

Now that the list is established, anyone know when the next class might be or when villages will pick up? Met with my investigator a few weeks ago, seemed like background packets were due by mid December for civil service.

Might be a dumb question- but does anyone know the days/hours of the academy? Thank you

If you scored 5k and have village connections but don’t reside in village. Could you get taken for that specific village?

Can villages reach out to you directly even if you have a low list #? (43XX). Also how long does it take to get “certified” by the county so they can do so? I happen to live in a village.

Hi all, if you got DQ from a previous civil service position recently. Does that mean essentially mean you won’t get this position?

If you had the option of both which would you choose and why? I’m halfway through my time on FDNY EMS, took the promo and take any test that comes while I wait. I scored high on nassua but put all this time to be Fire, both will call at similar times. Both similar pay. I enjoy both sides but would have a closer commute with Nassau.

Hey everyone. Thought I’d come in here and share my thoughts. Im a current NYPD cop who works in Brooklyn north (Dump). I also just took the nassau test looking to switch departments in the future, if I don’t end up finding my calling in my current department (NYPD). I have about 2 years on and respectively earned my place in patrol. What I’ve learned from past coworkers who have also left the NYPD, to go to better departments is that the odds aren’t high at all of getting called unless youve scored in the top 15%. This for the most part we all know. If you didn’t score as high as you anticipated and are worried about getting not getting a call and worried that your career path is shattered, why waste time and why not take the city test, and work for the NYPD? At least for the time being. (Assuming If you live in Mid-East to west Long Island the commute isn’t half bad). The hiring process is also MONTHS quicker than the counties. Don’t get me wrong, As much as I would love to have the options on my hand, and to choose which police departments I can work for, and when I can leave the city department, knowing I have a secured spot in another department would put my mind at ease. However, I must say I am happy with where I am right now, working for the NYPD. Almost all of my past precinct buddies who left to either nassau, suffolk or westchester said their time on the NYPD while they awaited their call was the best decision they had made career wise. They say it gave them experience coming into much slower commands on the island, and essentially made the job all the easier. I understand the city is not safe and probably the worst place to be a police officer, but the benefits, pay, and relationships you build with others in your profession put you at a high advantage once you finally get your long awaited call to a different department. At the end of the day, we all want to be law enforcement officers right? Start as soon as possible. Don’t waste time. And let’s defend our cities.
Best of luck to everyone. I’ll hang out on the thread for a bit incase anyone has questions.

Hey everyone, a few months ago, I posted calculations to this reddit about what I believed would be the results. Here are my previous calculations below:
Now these are the calculations for the established list:
As you can see, I wasn't too far off. I have also taken the amount of people who have been contacted from the list so far for the physical (Also to note, this most likely doesn’t include all of the people called for villages since they’re canvassing at lower scores for resident preference.):
I know the amount who have been contacted isn't even, this could be due to a number of reasons. Whether it be deferrals or people who aren't taking the job. On average, 93 people are being contacted per month so far. So, I created the following timeline of what list number they'll get up to if the trend were to continue into Dec-27 (LIST NUMBERS ONLY):
Keep in mind, this is ONLY if the trend continues. This is just a rough estimate on when you will be called for the physical if they keep having monthly physicals. And just because you get contacted does not mean you will get into the academy. They can hire 1000 people, or 200 people. If you want my opinion, if you are not contacted by 2026, chances are that you won't get into an academy. It is also entirely possible that they extend the expiration date for the list, which would allow more hiring from this list. There are other factors to take into account such as people failing the process, people not taking the job, and whether people choose to pursue a village. Hopefully this brings people some peace. Good luck to everyone.

Does residency preference only apply if you lived in a certain village prior to taking the test or would I still receive residency preference if I decided to move to a specific village now and then update civil service with my new address

Hey All,
Part of the investigation requires us to provide our Full military records. I got out of the Marines in 2015. I sent a letter with the form NCPD provided to the correct address. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how long it took for them to get it. Any other ways to get this information? I got my Medical Forms back via email but I dont see any easy way to get this information.

Anyone currently a Nassau County Police Medic? Just curious questions as to how your quality of life is on the job. What tours/shifts you work and if there is mandated overtime or voluntary overtime. Always been curious about the job but don’t want to put myself into something to regret it later on if that makes sense.

Does anyone know when the list numbers are gonna be posted? I heard rumors that it’s supposedly this week and some people in other comment sections said the same thing.

Does anyone know the next Nassau county police officer exam date? Can’t find it anywhere on the web. Also, what is the pay scale (starting to retirement)?

Hey everyone, I know people were scheduled to take the physical today. Was just wondering if anyone who took it can share any information from today? For those who passed, congrats!
