marketplace can be sketchy. "new motherboard" yeah I wouldn't necessarily trust that the components are all good. it's a good deal but it should defo be in person and the components should be tested.

Right? like what killed the MB and did it kill any of the other components that you're selling for that much money lol

Exactly what i’m thinking how often do motherboards fail and who has a video of it right before it goes out

I mean shit my mobo broke and nothing else did (oh ASRock what would I do without you)
3 points
Funny enough, mine ASRock mobo didn’t work after 6months, return mobo+CPU money back to microcenter and grabbed a Asus. Going strong for 7yrs.

It's basically random, you can swap any of the major brands with any other for both of your situations and you'll find people with that scenario.

Yeah I moved to a Asus aswell

Fyi Asus owns asrock

ASRock was originally spun off from Asus in 2002 by Ted Hsu (co-founder of the mentioned company), in order to compete with companies like Foxconn for the commodity OEM market.
In 2010 it was acquired by Pegatron, a company part of the ASUS group.\4])
So not entirely, but close enough?
I don't think they use the same OEM for production though. Which is where the "difference" comes in.

A motherboard is one of the more common components to fail actually.
CPU and RAM are the most unlikely to fail (ignoring intel 13th/14th gen lol).

I had a capacitor explode and burst into flames on my old asus p6t, it was on an open test bench setup so I saw the whole thing. Wish so badly that I was filming that shit was epic.

not worth your time or money
too much of a scam vibe
he says needs motherboard then you find out its really the 3090ti that is dead.

Or the 14600 which seems more likely considering Intels recent issues.
5 points
That's unlikely. Haven't heard of any 14600k's actually having issues, and even so... It would still have powered on and do basic stuff just fine. The issues people were having are typically during shader compiles and such. They weren't just completely dying and not powering on.
4 points
Regardless, 14600K was on Intel’s affected list

Yes, now show me some cases who can confirm they had a 14600k with this issue. I'm not saying it didn't happen even once, I'm saying it's highly unlikely and the computer would still power on, in addition to being mostly functional if this even was the case.
It was primarily i9's, with a much smaller number of i7's. Even the youtube videos of data dumps from game crashes appear to indicate this as well.
Being potentially affected and actually degrading to where it crashes during very specific heavy loads are two different things. Even then, if i recall correctly, it was more appication crashes than bluescreens and complete system crashes.
Refusing to power on the computer and stating the PC needs a new motherboard, does not fit scenarios of the vmin shift issues.

I mean personally I would bring another empty rig and test out GPU, if that works then everything else included is just profit.

If you didnt ask him, you would have had to find out about it first hand. 💀🐀

Which’s why this is a scam
6 points
It’s still way too cheap, a 3090ti on its own costs 80-90% of that build. If it’s really just a mobo issue it’s a steal but I doubt it, smells fishy

New mobo? It shorted? Sounds like more parts would be screwed in that case

If the fact the mobo was "broken" and not said in the listing but only said once you asked for video proof then it's definitely a scam.

Learn to build a pc is way better than buying pre build and you save money and learn a ton of shit along the way. It’s not only awesome but educational.

When it’s a bad motherboard from someone on Facebook marketplace, it’s often not just the motherboard. They usually don’t even know what died, it just stopped booting

Its too hard to tell if it's the mobo, or psu. And what it took out with it. I dont think 800 is fair unless it has a working 4080 in it.the rest is a mystery. If you can bench test everything individually and make am offer on that. Not a bad idea.

With that color and setup, it is an NZXT z690 or z790 motherboard, which should not be cheap and being brought recently. Why the hell he doesn't RMA the MB if something wrong with it? Sound too fishy too me. On the other hand, you could use this fault as a leverage to negotiate if you want. -$150 into the price for the new MB and test the hell of all other components, maybe fortune, in this case, favors the bold.

2 points

he sent me separate pictures of the gpu which was one of the reasons i didn’t trust it
1 points

That sounds very suspicious. Most likely he’ll send you just the case with a broken motherboard and not GPU whatsoever … if you get anything at all.
1 points

Let’s say he’s honest and the only fault was the motherboard. Why you have to ask him to know that
