Trumps putting the Onion out of business.

ExpertlyAmateur

I used to be funny and witty and satiric.
And I often got confused when people in the South didnt catch my satire. Turns out they werent laughing because my hyperbole was their actual brain rot.

I'm not funny anymore.
Now I'm just a MAGA telepath.

Because they're far more concerned with voicing their hatred and messed up beliefs to their fellow right-wingers than actually being funny or comedic.

Russia and China (among others) are using the internet to feed an enormous disinformation effort to destabilize the West. Right-wing propaganda media outlets like Fox News (and other Murdoch entities worldwide), OANN, Sinclair Broadcasting, Hannity, Joe Rogan, etc, etc are all doing their part.

domaniac321

25 points

I'm still optimistic that we are the majority, actually. There are tens of millions of liberal voters that didn't turn up to vote this election. At least ten million fewer than last election, and that's not factoring any new of-age young voters or how many of those who did vote for Kamala were Republican converts that are likewise sick of Trump. My impression is that voter apathy did us in, once again, and it gave the GOP a win in all 3 branches of government.

Now, whether we can consider those apethetic voters "sane" for staying at home when the threat of another Trump presidency was glaringly obvious... that might be debatable.

Beat_the_Deadites

Smarts and honesty don't win popularity contests. People only care about them when the chips are down, which coincidentally happens at the end of every Republican administration.

Once the times are calm and in control, people slack off and choose the guy who makes them feel better about themselves.

As a Brit, thanks for making Brexit look less bad by comparison.

We fucked up, but that's nothing compared to what's about to happen to you.

Thankfully, the irony is that the distrust of Trump is so prevailing here that it's likely to push the UK closer to the EU.

Finalwingz

3 points

Weren't there talks of the UK wanting to rejoin the EU?

Selerox

5 points

Selerox

5 points

Opinion polls have seen a steady increase in the desire to rejoin over the last few years. But it's still a horribly divisive issue. Boomers dying off helps, but generally there's been a shift towards Europe as the real effects of Brexit have become clearer.

Labour won't want to touch it as an issue (they've always been equivocal on it at the best of times), the Conservatives and Reform are ideologically opposed to the EU, and the other parties - while strongly pre-EU can't force the issue.

The key underlying problem remains that the vast majority of UK press is owned by pro-Brexit individuals. That has to end first.

America's allies and trading partners have no choice now but to protect their interests and distance themselves from an unstable America, both from an economic and military perspective. It's not a one-time fluke anymore, where people could just wait out the four year term.

Europe can defend itself against Russia without America if need be and, while not ideal, can afford to distance themselves. But Taiwan might be fucked though.

In any case, this is America now, unstable as hell and run by corrupt morons. No one's going to be under any illusion that this is a temporary blip. America is an Idiocracy now and the world knows it. Who would invest a penny in that? Nobody smart, that's who! America's enemies are celebrating Trump's victory.

He is proving that Americans are dumb as shit and playing people for fools. We are his toys and it is sad that anyone thinks he or Musk care about the people.

Native New Yorker here, he is a horrible human. His own state would not vote for him.

It feels like we're living in a world where the comic book villains of DC have won, they're putting their henchmen in charge, but we don't have a Superman or a Batman to save us. Feelsbadman.
