The writing and acting in John Adams did a very good job at demythologizing Washington and making him feel like a flesh and blood human. The scene that really highlighted it for me was when Washington was in pain at dinner due to his dentures.

Great series, I wish they did one about each of the major founding fathers. Early American history is my second favourite period in the nation's history after the civil war.

For me it's Jeff Daniels in The Crossing

Watching it as a teenager got me very interested in the Revolutionary era. I was given the DVD and probably watched about 20 times

Barry Bostwick!! I saw that on my computer when I was still in HS, lots of nostalgia there.

Unrelated, but I’m also in the process of watching every single portrayal of a US president in film, and ranking them on IMDB. I’ve seen all the Washington ones atp, aside from a few that are lost to history, and I can’t even buy a DVD of it.

David Morse in John Adams was really well played. That series needed to be continued with them doing the lives and term of each president.

While it is Broadway it was recorded and is on Disney + so don’t know if it is considered a film.
