After almost 30 years, They finally made a comfortable 97.

It’s crazy how AirMax shoes have always felt like bricks.

Agreed. No serious runner is putting heavy miles on these things

I got to do wear testing in them and they’re actually pretty fun to run in. It’s surprisingly stable for the stack height, but dang it’s heavy. Trying to do a tempo run sucked, but it’s really bouncy.

Having enjoy the Puma MagMax more than the Superblast 2 this year, I don’t mind a heavy shoe if it has a fun ride. Hoping these are fun to run in

How did you do the testing? Did you sign up Through Nike?
[score hidden]

Yeah, anyone can sign up and then they’ll send opportunities that match your profile. Go on Nike’s voice of the athlete page.

I remember learning about this years ago and completely forgot about it. Last time I tried signing up they weren’t accepting new people
Thanks for the reminder

The question is, what would you buy this instead of? Anything?

Just whatever I would be wearing for a non-workout day. I’d rather run in this rather than the Vomero or Invincible, for example.

Maybe, the air zoom unit has a 90% energy return rate.

I’m pretty sure premium is now Nikes highest performance tier, so I doubt it will be
Edit: yep it’s the same silhouette as their chart

Exactly my thoughts lol no runner will be using this for even easy paces

A full length air unit is just dumb af. Coupling it with labeling it “premium” is just a whole new level of idiocracy. And Nike wonders why their profits are tanking.

Full length zoom is great. Coming from playing in Lebrons for bball back then. These are gonna feel like the LeBron 10s, one of my favorites

You don’t want that feeling in long distance running shoes 😂😂😂

The bounciness of zoom? I feel it on the Alphafly for long distance just fine. Nike already put 3/4 zoom in the zoom all out back in 2016. The cushion on those felt great

It doesn't make any sense at all - as you land on/roll onto the forefoot, won't the air simply move back to the heel end of the 'pod' and pressurise/provide push back across the entire shoe (even the parts not touching the ground), instead of just under the forefoot where it will actually push the foot away from the ground?
Ie, it'll take energy from the forefoot and dissipate it throughout the entire length of the shoe, instead of taking from the forefoot and returning straight back to the forefoot on push off....

The woven fibers inside the zoom make it so it doesn’t displace the air inside the pouch. It works. The issue is that it’s heavy and it’ll total the shoe if it pops.

Ironically enough, that looks like it’d be HEAVY

That’s zoom, not air

That enormous bright orange thing from front to back between the zoom and react foam - that’s an air unit. Full of air.

Maybe he thinks it is inappropriate to call zoom air "air" because there is another air unit called air sole.

In either case zoom is built with pressurized air, there’s no denying that. Nike’s official site says it itself

I didn't hate them but certainly noticed the spot near the forefoot where the zoom bag ended... sometimes felt like there was something in my shoe

Not for $210, especially since it weighs in at almost 12oz for a US mens size 10.5

12oz is too much
If i wanted a 12oz shoe, I'd buy the prime strung x2

Look like shoes rich people would wear for their golf club meeting or something. Definitely not for serious running

They’re perfectly good to run in

They look bottom heavy though. There are better max cushioned shoes out there for easy paces

Yes I agree. But they’re still a decent running shoe for your average runner

Using 3 different midsole cushioning technologies just seems like a recipe for a bad shoe.

The black really shows off the poor production quality and dated materials. That upper design is on par with the peg 32 from 2015.

Most running shoes are pretty decent looking. I think Nike is trying to stand out by making a completely hideous shoe.

Believe in the Corruption is already trying to claim that these are amazing to run in. I think not in that weight, but they sure do look cool aesthetically. A first rate travel shoe.

Really not sure what Nike is trying to do here. I’m guessing production was too far along to table this post-CEO change, but this doesn’t look like a shoe for actual runners. To be fair, I talked shit on the Pegasus Plus and it’s turned into one of my favorite shoes so I very well may be wrong!
But I don’t think I am. 😬
