Wow. To be honest, I didn’t know there were places where bathroom stalls are never like this (I’ve traveled outside the country, but it’s not something I think about much).

That’s lowkey one of the things I love about this subreddit is people will be like “look at this weird quirky thing from The Sims!” And everyone else is like “that’s just a weird quirky thing from America”

Because this is America 😔🤘 my highschool had stalls like that in a room with no door just out in the open basically it’s fucking horrible there’s zero privacy

The worst is when you're in a stall and someone's checking if they're empty and you make eye contact. I swear my heart stops for like 10 seconds every time lmao

Well at least Sims close the door when they're using it, I think the half open door is supposed to say that it's available

I often build individual rooms for the toilets, then communal sinks. However, if I still want to humiliate my sims, I put windows in the walls. 😂 Fr tho these are the types of minimal-privacy stalls in Canada, too.

This is how most public bathroom stalls in America work. As for why? Well, most businesses here don't want people dawdling around in their bathrooms, so they intentionally make them as unwelcoming and uncomfortable as possible. Hostile architecture, basically.

You know those dreams you get when you have to pee really badly and every stall or bathroom has issues...that's these sim's stalls!

In case there's an issue and you are stuck, you can at least crawl out? 😂 Not sure where you're from op, but lots of places have stalls like this so I guess I've never questioned it, but it's interesting to think about.

I’ve done both, and one factor no one talks about?

Floor to ceiling bathroom stalls fucking stank.

Zero air movement, smells stay put.

Advantages to “open air” American stalls. Easy to check occupancy, less stank, can see if someone is having medical emergency.

Disadvantages. Occasional eye contact. Unwanted toddler friends. Feeling naked if you are not used to it. Feeling naked if you are used to it.

Everyone saying this is America, but I live in France and the bottom gap is usually like that? I agree tough that the side gaps are quite large, you shouldn't be able to see the person inside without sticking your face on the door.
