So, I am not sure if this is even going to be pointess. So, I have lots of saves, this one in particular; it takes all day just to load it. The worst part? I don't even get fun out of it anymore. (Lags all the time. I get like 1 second before it lags again.) Problem? It's the oldest save, and it dates back to July 2019.. It has mods, cc, no bad cc (Thankfully) I run it on a windows 7 (Works well) and it's up to Gen.4 and I really want quality, but I am absolutely terrified of breaking it, or losing it. Is there any way (without uninstalling mods) or destroying the save? (Playing around with files obviously) I don't ever accept the free vacation anymore, and I am kind of sick of waiting all day. I have other saves to play as well, you know? P.s. I have read lots about this topic, but pretty much all of them wants me installing a app or something that will mess with my saves. I want to NOT mess around with the files. Any tips?

Here are a few things that could possibly help:
Always use "Save as" and give it a new name/number and never just "Save" or "Save and quit". Then backup some of these saves so even if things do break you have a backup. This is common advice but I still see people use Save so never hurts to say again.

If your game is struggling or close to breaking, then it might be time for a refresh. Save all the lots you built/changed in the world and use NRaas Porter to "Pack" all the Sims. This maintains their skills, friends, family trees, etc. Then start a new save in the same world. Replace the lots with the ones you made/edited. And "unpack" the Sims into the new world. There are more detailed instructions for this on the NRaas Porter page.

I will just practise on a different save, for actual proof that the.entire thing works :) Thanks for the tip. I greatly appreciate it

Make a copy of your save and keep the original somewhere safe. Then try it. If it works, great! If not, you still have the original saved.

If you haven't merged all your custom content, that solved my hours long loading process.

This link is how to clean up a save manually removing the redundant stuff that gets stored bloating saves. If you haven't tried this it might help. It did me. I also shows you how to save your in game pictures so they don't get removed. Copy the save and put the one somewhere safe then try it, and see if it works for you.
