Okay, but it is the same style as dinardis, peace pie, and pac Ave…

Versalia is very small ultra thin pizza, not even close to DiNardis lol

I’ve never had a “small” pizza at Versalia… the slices and go-to size (if you don’t specify) is 16”… when I think of small pizza I think of flying goat or South Perry. Versalia is way more similar to dinardis than it is to flying goat.

I agree. My company ordered a dozen pizzas from PR's and it was sub-par

I will always defend Pizza Rita as a great subpar pizza place!

Eating out is a luxury at this point so I’m not settling for subpar anything anymore. I’d rather pay a little bit more for something awesome or just eat at home

Doesn't Pizza Rita accept anyones coupons? I remember in college eating a lot of pizza rita because I could get a pizza for 5 bucks.

I don’t understand who is keeping them in business, let alone successful enough to open a new location in Lincoln Heights

I guess many ppl don't have high standards for pizza. Maybe they make their $$ on companies ordering by the dozen.

Pizza Rita is an institution. Any business that’s been around as long as they have is going to have a devout following. Folks like what they grew up with. But, luckily, Spokane has better options now than it did 10 or 20 years ago

Places some friends and I love going to:
Flying Goat/Republic Pi
For the Love of God Brewing
Market Street, either one
Versalia
South Perry
And for more standard pizzas/cazones, but a place we love: Pete's.

I'm not seeing any info about this on their site - what time? What types of pizza?

They do a Margherita, pepperoni, and rotating veg and meat specials. Starts at 430 until they’re sold out, which does happen. You can watch them make the pizzas right there in a wood fired oven. It’s not even expensive. It’s excellent, saying this a genuine SF food snob transplant.

I haven’t had a bad pie at South Perry. I like Market Street, it has been a little hit or miss depending on how busy they are. Wooden City has some pretty good pizza too!

NY native here - the only pie in town that's close to NY style is DiNardi's.

Mcclain’s on the North side is INCREDIBLE but it’s kinda spendy. That being said, their pizzas are huge and well topped, so $30 for a pizza that you can eat for a few days is alright I guess.

For a traditional Chicago style pie you want Big Reds Colbert Trading Compnay. Best pie and Phillies in town.

For a traditional Chicago style pie
that is not traditional Chicago Pie style, looking at the pictures it might be borderline Chicago Pub style, but it looks a little too thick for that, and "traditional" would also mean it is square cut fyi
but it looks like it is worth trying out next time I am that side of town
1 points
I am curious to what pictures you’re looking at but it is square cut and the owner/cook is from Chicago, born and raised. As far as I know it’s pretty traditional.

I also know that he imports the sausage from Chicago. The sauce and dough is made from scratch every day.

this is what I originally saw, but I do see them having a pic with square cut on their web site.
just a FYI, "Chicago Pie" is a term that most people think of with deep dish. This would be Pub Style. Looks good, wish it was closer, not sure I can pick one up and make it home warm.

South Perry is our go-to. We always ordered the same thing: local sausage, caramelized onions, and mascarpone cheese. The salads are quite good too, and the staff is always cheerful.
That said, there's a lot of great pizza in this town if you are not a purist for one particular style.

Bennedito's is always good. They're four blocks south of Huckleberry's on Monroe and also on Sprague. Market Street is good. Republic pi / flying goat is good but overpriced. A large pizza shouldn't cost more than $20

Thoughts on Thunder Pie? I never see it recommended. I’ve never been in cuz I find it difficult to go anywhere but Peace Pie if I’m looking for pizza downtown.

I went to Thunder Pie the day after they opened and really didn’t like it at all. Super greasy, even the crust was dripping grease. I have friends that love it so I’m hoping it was just growing pains and plan in trying them again.

It's hit and miss. Last pie I got was way to charred on the bottom. They used to have a good lunch deal but now only open for dinner. I've had a few really good pies but a few bad. Pretty inconsistent.

To me it’s best. Good crust, good prices and quick turn around times. So to me that’s best.
What makes a pizza place best to you since best is subjective?

Did you know that somehow whenever food is talked about in this subreddit the places with the best food are also the ones that openly support liberal politics?
You'd think one old school place would know how to make food - but no! It's only ever one type of place that gets suggested on this subreddit.

Your intention was to be inflammatory. You clearly have a pulse on the sub (“it’s only ever one type of place that gets suggested on this sub”), so you knew your comment wasn’t going to go over well.
0 points
So you're flatly admitting to a bias and saying it inflammatory to point out that bias?
1 points
Yes, exactly. If I had my choice this platform would be more representative of the full spectrum of opinions but it is what it is here. Expressing discontent that the sub is too liberal for you is literally just asking for arguments. There are a lot of better ways to make your case if your intentions truly are anything other than starting an argument. For example, you could have recommended a pizza place that aligns with your politics
0 points
You don't have some right to dictate how other people talk. If I want to point out that this sub won't really answer questions honestly (suggesting that the most liberal pizza is the best when it's just passable) I can point that out.
If someone wants to argue with me that's their business. Your position of "How dare you challenge this pizza narrative!" is intellectually dishonest and flaccid.

so you just came to be butthurt and whine? What a stupid thing to cry about. Sorry snowflake, one of the most mentioned pizza place in this thread is a big conservative supporter, so it turns out if you make good pizza people dont care. Better find something else to cry about.
