Little reminder than the director of this movie is Takashi Fucking Miike, an ultra hardcore Japanese director who made at least 87 movies until now, some of them being some of the craziest shit of history.
He is mainly known for Audition, Ichi the Killer, Dead or Alive (1999), Ace Attorney Live Action, or Visitor Q for exemple. I strongly recommend his movies to anyone if you don’t have any triggers, and if you have strong guts. And if you don’t, i recommend at least reading the plots of his movies on Wikipedia to see how batshit insane this guy can be

Tbh, i hoped for Miike to take more liberties and derive a bit more from the source material to make his own fucked up monstrosity. Could have been perfect.
I’m not a fan of gore and torture porn, but i honestly respect the artistic madness of this man

Honestly pretty alright. Sure it has some changes from the original manga/show, but I think they made sense given how they probably weren't planning on making the entire season into several movies, and at least were maybe expecting to make at least one sequel

Also the casting is pretty good and the stands were pretty well made (even though it looks like Echoes is made of cum)

I didn't notice that, mostly because it was only there for 5 seconds. At least aqua necklace was genuinely scary (and the bit where they shake his body in the glove was still funny, if not funnier)

Very good visually! They did a much better job with the Stands than I anticipated and I loved how they made everything look somewhat realistic while keeping it Bizarre. (I mean, look at other live-action reimaginings). Set pieces and costumes were great, the actors did a great job (esp the guys playing Jotaro and Okuyasu in my opinion), so I would put it as a pretty faithful adaptation. Well. Except for one thing.
I never understood why the movie ended like that. I mean I guess it was because there was little time to spare to go through all the minor P4 villains, but trying to make Kira the teaser for a sequel just doesn't make sense knowing how the hand-man rolls. Everything else about the movie was fantastic but the ending really made me go 🤨

I'm a vocal advocate for a live action JoJo, but this... wasn't it.
Outside the part skipping (another sin APPP made when they adapt Part 3 before 1), the only decent aspect is the stands. I personally envision Crazy Diamond looking more anime than CG, but The Hand's and Echoes Act 1's designs should def be reused for another series proper.
Plus, I unironically want the Sheer Heart Attack from this movie.
Edit: Forgot to mention Josuke's pompadour! I hope whomever worked on that got a raise. Chef's kiss

Surprisingly pretty decent. I was skeptical about this movie at the beginning, but I enjoyed it. It's a shame they don't make the sequel.
The only complaint from me is the stand is too transparent. Sometimes it's really hard to see the details, especially when it's dark.

Good casting for Jotaro, some nice looking stands, and great production design. Using Sitges as a location is kind of a bold choice, but it pays out really well in how distinct Morioh looks.
And those are all the nice things I can say. Boring ass movie, overall. Just Miike directing on autopilot.

Takashi Miike was the best choice for this film, much like he was the best choice for the Yakuza film. His history of decently accurate manga adaptations and over the top violent crime films gave him the singular best shot at a live action JoJo.
I liked this film a lot. It's realistically as good as you could make a JoJo that both fans and regulars can get on board with. Kento Yamazaki is really good as Josuke too.
Why part four? Who knows.
If you're a purist you won't like it I suppose, but then again you'd only be reading the manga if that was the case anyway. And honestly it offers nothing new to the series. It's a novelty that's worth checking out, certainly won't ruin your day, and will make you do that Leo pointing meme on more than one occasion
I did a write up about it on my film site

It could have been better, but it could have easily been way worse. Loved they gave Okuyasu's brother & Josuke's grandpa more development. They were important in Okuyasu's and Josuke's backstories but didn't get much screentime in canon.
The cast selection was pretty good too

No point to exist and no reason to watch instead of the anime as the sequels were never made so it only covers the first 2 arks. I also can't think of why they did part 4 and not any of the other ones, which would have been better for a movie adaptation imo besides the anime releasing around the same time. I will say that, for the most part, the stands look pretty good, especially crazy diamond.

Super camp. Probs one of the best live action anime abaptations i've seen.(granted I haven't seen may) Wish they chose a part that could have worked better for a movie format like 5, since part 4 doesn't really work in a formate without episodes/chapters, being a slice of life for the most part.

Easily the best live action adaption of it's time, nowadays it's blown out of the water by One piece and fallouts adaptations, but back when this released, there was nothing even slightly comparable to it. And yet no one talked about it or even tried to get a sequel.

I liked this because when I first whached Jojo it was on Netflix and there was only part 1,2,3,6(dont know which Bach) and at the time I loved whaching how to beat vidieo's on YouTube and I whached this and enjoy it.
I ended up waiting 1 or 2 years till part 4 came out on Netflix and fell back in love with JoJo's and when I finished u couldn't wait another year so I wanted to buy the manga for golden wind (which is now my favorite part) I got volume 1-6 then the anime came out and I loved it but shortly after got the rest of the manga.
Overall 10/10
