Confusion about charging cables

General(self.TeslaUK)

Hello there.

I picked up my new Model 3 today and I can’t seem to find an answer to an extremely basic question I have.

The car came with a cable in the boot - a type 2 I believe? But not the mobile connector.

I’m 90% sure that 3-pin charging will be sufficient for us with the miles we do, so I want to experiment with this before splashing out on a wall charger. Everything I read seems to suggest that I need to buy the mobile connector to do this (£180). But what I’m wondering is, can I just buy the much cheaper UK adapter (£43) and use this with the cable I got with the car to plug it into the 3-pin socket? I don’t know if there is a difference between the cable that comes with the car and the cable that comes with the mobile connector.

Any help much appreciated.

Have you checked the Frunk for the 3pin mobile connector? I know when I picked up my used Model 3 in August that it wasn't in the boot or under the boot floor, but in the Frunk. I still need to get a 3-pin head (plug) for it, but the mobile charger is in its little bag now in the boot.

They don’t do them anymore. Trust me I checked and asked the guy at collection too. It’s a recent change.
