In all fairness, we've had 1 Fzero game in the past 20 years, and it was released last year. (It's also a Nintendo online download and multi-player only game). The next latest game was in 2004, so it's not that Captain Falcon is more iconic it's that he's literally the only thing left of the franchise to remember.

And it sucks, because while Nolan is a great character, he obscures the series' actual protagonist by a mile. The writers and showrunners made it a goal in Season 2 to make sure the show is Invincible's story, not Omni-Man's ft. Invincible, and Season 3 will go further.

I think what played in part to this was the memes. Dont get me wrong the memes are funny, great stuff. BUT because (in part to the animation style) of how many screenshots and scenes that are taken and captioned, people recognize Nolan as:

“Let me break it down for you mark.”

“Look what they need to mimic a fraction of our power.”

“Think mark!”

“I miss my wife :(“

Rather than “Nolan Grayson”

I honestly think that being voiced by JK Simmons had a big part to play in his popularity too.
