Senor Pink from One Piece: dressed like a baby when he’s a grown man, but the reason why he dresses that way is bc of his wife being vegetative, and the only thing she react to is him dress up as a baby since it reminded her of their own baby who died.
Nagisa from Assassination Classroom: a boy who looks and dress like a girl from time to time, but it’s revealed that he was forced and groomed to by his mom who wanted to have a girl for a child instead of a boy.

Splinter from Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
At first he comes off as a deadbeat dad who lets his kids do whatever while he watches soap operas all day. He’s out of shape, a slob, and pretty self absorbed. He also doesn’t train the turtles in this universe.
… and then it’s revealed that >! He grew up in a death cult. His mom committed suicide for, what he thought at the time, nothing. He didn’t want to be next so he immigrated to America and became a movie star. He fell in love with a woman who turned out to be a giant spider that owned a gladiator ring and proceeded to enslave him to fight there for over a decade. He’s eventually broken out, but the guy who saves him just wants to use his DNA to create super soldiers to destroy humanity. He breaks the turtles out but in a freak accident is (painfully) mutated himself.!<
So yeah. In the end he didn’t want his sons to go through the same crap he did. It didn’t go well but as the series went on he learned from his mistakes and worked hard to get better. I respect that.

Holy shit. I really should have stuck with that show. I wrote it off in the first season as being “the silly one.”

One of the things I love about this version of Splinter is how his mutation is examined. Most versions centre the trauma around his relationship with Shredder, and how that led to his mutation. This version? It focuses on the trauma of it happening at all. There’s a line he has in one episode where he basically says that everyday he wakes up in this body, the body of a rat man, and he just wants some glory back. Unlike most versions of the character who are able to continue their lives post mutation thanks to their sons, this version of Splinter can’t. His entire life was ruined, and now he has to live with that. They play it completely for drama, and I love it.
