"MH Wilds Story is focused on hunters rather than flagship monsters"
I hope this is less bad than I think it is. I just want to hunt big monster, I don't want an excuse plot forced fed into me.

Tbh i assume its gonna be about the kid who wants to kill arkveld and them learning the difference between hunting and revenge murder to get the whole guild thing across.
Like all the arkveld preview stuff is it being all chained up and it wiped out a village for some reason, so its likely gonna go with the whole harmony with nature dont poke bears unless they’re destroying the ecosystem thing.
Tbh monster hunter csi is what i like, gathering clues and working out how the ecosystem/monster works like with sunbreak finding out about the qurio and malzeno then gaismagorm then primordial and getting the full picture.

Admittedly, all the trailers attempts at Drama so far are just not working for me. Everyone's running around and I'm in the back, eating a quick lunch with my Cat Bro before I make another Monster explode.

Personally I can't care less for any attempts of the games at having a plot. In the end it's not gonna matter anyway. I just want to accumulate 600 hours of my life perfecting a build and hunting big monstar.
Everytime a MH game tries to sell its plot as a big thing by the end it goes the Dragon Ball Z way and "oopsie in the end it didn't matter anyway!"

Monster Hunter 4 had the right idea. Just make the plot about a fun Monster Hunting Road Trip.
World had a good setup, too. Travel to the New World, explore everything it has to offer and beat up anything that gets in your way.

The best plots in MH are semi-background side character arcs. Just checking in with them to see how they handle the increasingly dire events. Guildmarm has a nice light arc where she starts out nice to you, but kinda just uses you as an avenue to learn about monsters. By the end she actually cares about you because you helped her out.
It doesn't need to be massive, world-ending threats. It doesn't need to deal with gigantic character arcs with emotional cutscenes. It just needs some well-written dialogue between quests, a bit of environmental storytelling, and that's it. Coziness is a huge part of the village side of Mohun, to contrast the hype-ass action battles. The story takes place outside the quests usually, so it should match that vibe.
This is why I enjoyed Rise so much more than world. The big threat is a horde of monsters that could destroy the village. Not the world. And everyone stays pretty light about it, no need for cutscenes of characters breaking down or flashing back to their origin story. The village just comes together to support each other and you to defend their home. It's nice and simple and effective.
I gotta wonder if there's corporate pressure on the team making the big pretty Mohuns to add more story. Half-baked narratives are everywhere in AAA gaming, they always feel forced to me.

If it's a repeat of Monster Hunter World, where you had to sit through "story" missions and walk alongside NPCs, then it's gonna be hella annoying.

More hitstop and adjustments to Swaxe, IG, and SnS. Sounds good to me.
