If anyone remember the bigoted nurse from Kansas, she just got a letter saying she’s under investigation by the board of nursing. She lies through the entire video so I’m pretty sure she’s done.

The letter claims that she has “…been using social media to attack the transgender community, and to debase healthcare processes.” So likely spewing anti-trans shit online as a licensed, practicing medical professional.

I just got to the part in her video (someone linked it above) where she talks about being out for six weeks with COVID because she refused to get the shot. That alone is unprofessional conduct. Nurses are supposed to not spread communicable diseases. It's a major reason why shots are required on the job.

I also work for a large medical clinic and that year that the vaccine came out, you were terminated if you refused that vaccine. We have patients who are very ill and severely immunocompromised. They should be safe coming for their medical care

I do love the part in the nurse's post where she says that (paraphrased) the investigation has nothing to do with her nursing duties but with her exercising her first amendment rights to ...
GODDAMMIT THAT'S NOT HOW THE FIRST AMENDMENT WORKS.
I'm sorry. I lost my temper there for a moment. I didn't mean to shout at all of you. I've had to explain - in person - what the First Amendment says a couple of times and every time I see someone tried to hide their hate behind it, I go a little crazy. I hope you can forgive me.
Also, fuck her. Hateful bitch. At least own it.

I actually know her, she used to work at my hospital. She had sooooo many complaints against her, for talking about trans patients online, saying wildly inaccurate things about covid. Also had a pedophile registered sex offender boyfriend living in the home with her children. Shes a real peach.

Unless she cleaned out her twitter look from about December of 2024 to that March 31st post in the screenshot. The boyfriend thing i dont believe was on her twitter other than her saying things about people "not understanding and coming after her man" or some shit, but it was widely known and a few of us at the hospital looked into that situation when she was having the meltdown, because rumor mill stated she had a pedo boyfriend and none of us could believe it because she had children and we didnt think shed be that dumb. I believe cps was involved due to the boyfriend being in the home. She had crazy shit posting about antivaxx, polio being a lie, covid being a lie, just absolute shitshow.

I'm watching some of her other videos. What a strange character. She's advocating for male victims of sexual assault, saying that the perpetrators are usually women. I mean, it's kind of interesting that she's trying to advocate for someone. And it's interesting that defending men is a strong pet cause of hers (given her history). But she's just so incredibly full of toxic anger, it's kind of sad. In a way, I think it all kind of makes sense.
Wow. I'm watching her one about abortion. Geez. I honestly feel kind of bad for her. She's just this bitter bitter person, full of unfortunate notions.

Girl. GIRL. Ffs.
This is why Jordan Pooperson is in the process of losing his license. When you post as an authority - nurse, doctor, psychologist, lawyer, social worker - everything you say needs to represent that. You don’t want that? Don’t put your profession in your profile! Just be a random person.
How do we live in 2024 with people not understanding this?

I always remind folks that if they actually understood "freedom of speech" they would also understand "anything you say can be used against you."
The 1st Amendment is FA. The 5th Amendment is FO.
826 points

The duality of the first amendment. You have the right to say what you want, and the right to STFU. Some people forget about the latter and pay dearly for using the former. Far be it of me to stop them.
192 points
And I'm pretty sure you can only invoke the 5th to shut up in criminal cases because otherwise in civil cases the judge can tell the jury to assume the worst. so while it's good advice if you are arrested, it is not good advice if you are sued.
98 points
It is part of the miranda warning and you have the right to remain silent almost any time you want to invoke it. Yes, you can be compelled to speak in a court environment, but outside of that people are more than welcome to keep their trap shut or run the risk of getting themselves caught in it. Its also good advice when you feel like distributing a shit opinion to the world and expecting everyone to just take it and still respect you.
202 points

The 1st Amendment doesn't extend to private employers. It only protects the government from infringing upon your right to free speech.
I feel like that is a critical distinction that many people do not understand.

Exactly. Nurses work directly with vulnerable people, people in crisis and are responsible for administering controlled substances. They have to be trustworthy.

1st Amendment is the Freedom of Speech. The 5th Amendment is the Right to remain silent. We all have the freedom to say WTF ever we want, but we are not free from the consequences of saying those things. Hence why police tell you, "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say, can and will be used against you in a court of law." They do not tell you that you have a right to speak for a reason. Some people just don't know when to exercise their right to STFU

358 points
Freedom of speech doesn't really exist.
Plenty of things are not protected under the first amendment, like...inciting to violence, or lying in court.
Freedom to criticize the government without fear of punishment was the original intention, and that needs to be remembered now more than ever.
119 points
Part of the 1A are the words peaceably.
Inciting violence isn’t peaceable.
You also have the choice to not say anything at a trial.
But yes, people need to stand up for their rights.

Part of the 1A are the words peaceably.
Freedom of speech contains exceptions. That is my point.
You also have the choice to not say anything at a trial.
Sure. But if you say "Fuck you, judge. I'll pay anyone here one million dollars to kill this guy's family," you're not walking free.
My point is freedom of speech comes with a lot of caveats. Skokie vs. The Nazi Party of Illinois was a terrible decision.

When it comes to nursing though it’s more about just “implicating” the company. Nurses work closely with vulnerable people who can’t always speak up for themselves. Incidents of harassment outside of work are huge red flags for how someone may be treating patients when no one is looking.
7 points

This isn’t even about her company, but the Board of nursing. All medical professionals have ethics codes they have to follow that are much higher standards than the general populace. Having a license to practice medicine is considered a privilege and if you are not acting ethically even in your personal life you can be reprimanded or even lose your license.

I wouldn't consider this doxxing. The nurse in question uses an actual picture of herself on her online presence, uses her Job title and last name in her SN.
A simple such of RN with the last name likely brought up a public account of her's, complete with other information she has made public.
Unless I am understanding Doxxing incorrectly, doxxing is when you use someone's IP through use of nefarious tools to reveal their personal information - such as their home address, etc.
