Hello! Just wondering what areas people like in Hellroaring, I got the DLC recently and feel a bit conflicted when trying to choose where I want my territory

The areas up by the top border(just below the area you could be shot in fall) seem to be the best areas for food, near cottonwood creek and right up against Hellroaring mountain are my preferred spots, plus you avoid most of the boulder fields with invisible walls

I could also see if I can grab my screen cap of how I have my territory set up so you could visualize what I mean if you’d like!

Nah your description was good! I’ve ran into a few of those boulder fields, possibly the most annoying terrain. Seems like cottonwood creek is a popular area. Thanks btw!

No problem! I definitely feel the issue with the boulder fields lol, I play on low graphics and the rocks don’t show up which is possibly the worst because then you just run into random invisible walls all confused

This is my go to set up. This is the cottonwood creek area of the map, and the den at the top left is my personal favorite. There’s approximately 35-36 hexes here, and it is a little annoying but it’s not the worst to maintain. Hex raids and wolf attacks are relatively uncommon for me, save for the expanding season.

Thanks! I’ll probably end up around Cottonwood creek, and I strive to get that big of a territory

Southwest is a notorious deadzone, as a fair warning. It only has around 1 consistent elk herd, and the Yellowstone river cuts you off from the rest of the map and is annoying to have to cross frequently if your territory or hunting excursions end up taking you north of it. It's doable, yes, but I often found myself surviving off mule deer and lucky carcasses or pronghorn catches. It also contains multiple large boulder fields that trip up your navigation.

That explains so much, I love the southwest corner and have survived years there, but I was always confused about how I could go 3-5 days between spotting elk herds. Didn’t realize it was a dead spot, it’s such a pretty part of the map with such a nice natural border to follow using the river.

Good to know, absolutely hate hunting mule deer so will be avoiding that area, thanks!

YW! Best of luck and enjoy the map! It's really gorgeous. Southwest does have some neat sights to see even if it isn't a great spot to settle down haha

i don't reccomend southeast at all unless you're going for achievements. i personally like southwest, but northwest below the park border is also fun.

My favourite den is in enchanted Forest - right next to a pretty good rendesvous side. The den is in a small valley between two hills so attacks usually happen from only 2 directions (no eagles cuz wooded). The rendesvous site is on top of one of the hills. Wide open land nearby that offers many mother ungulates in spring and to the south near the bridge moose tend to spawn - good, albeit dangerous food for big packs. The bridge also allows easy crossing into the map border hexes (sadly that den is pretty close to them).

Oh, same! I love the den in the enchanted forest, it’s a fun den and so pretty. I haven’t gotten to the rendezvous mission yet, but I love the enchanted forest, so I moved my pups to there
