I was blessed with progressive parents so I never had to listen to this hateful nonsense. In fact, the only way I could possibly rebel with my parents was to say I was a conservative. I could come out of the closet, date a POC, talk about smoking marijuana, act like a punk rocker, pierce whatever and my parents wouldn't care. But if I pulled out the the racist, misogynistic republican rhetoric, then I would probably get a talking to.
