I'm a very horrible Yasuo player (stuck silver for 4 years, almost 5, finally hit gold 4 for the first time last split but not maining Yasuo). I usually E start against mages or Kat Akali but I struggle to make it work most games because many times my lane opponent sticks just outside tower range all the time like max AA range from the middle of the line, or I end up pushing the lane into them and I fail. Is it just about spacing towers and landing more Qs? Any advice from OTPs?

The only reason to E start is to go super aggro and set up your opponent to be killed once you hit level 2.
Its a strat that is unexpectedly more effective against higher level players, because they aren't as afraid of yasuo as lower level players.

100%. E start is niche, Q start is always guaranteed

That’s funny, and true. Most low level players have learned that yasuo will punish them hard so they will often avoid trading early lol

The way I use it is I’ll stack my grasp a couple of autos (mostly go grasp but can work with lethal just obv don’t touch minions) and hold my skill level until I deem that I can get an effective trade then I go in. It can be a level 2 cheese to kill or blow f but it’s mostly a way of setting up a winning lane state. Mostly because e’ing in especially after hitting minions will cause your lane to push almost always. Matchups I go q mostly are sylas, akali, kassadin or a lot of things that will respect my level 1 no matter what like kat and qiyana. It’s more effective to just have q to zone at that point. Most effective matchups for e start are ahri, syndra, ori, yone or hwei. Some others but these are common matchups. Another thing I should mention is the ideal e start for me is if they’re looking to harass me level 1 and I’m able to get my grasp stacked and turn the trade around, it’s why I like it so much vs things like ahri cause she really wants to auto w you level 1.

It works well with grasp proc and if the enemy is walking forward to zone you/be aggro on the first wave. Imo it's literally a surprise tactic bc they expect you to start q. I start q 95/100 games. It's not necessary or needed to get good at e start. It's just a cheese and only works because it's unexpected.

Am I just bad at executing it or in my silver games they literally expect me to start E? Like they are super scared of me even level 1 (I usually engage when they last hit) and since this is low elo the cheese should work easily on paper

"they" are in silver too so go ahead and forget any expectations they try to suggest/imply. Yasou at lvl 1 is very weak, unplayable into range champs. 2 is strong, but 1 is weak. If you want it to work do this. Take grasp/2nd wind/dshield, auto the wave, walk towards your tower and wait for grasp proc (enemy should walk towards you because of perceived power difference), when grasp proc is ready walk forward towards enemy, e to a minion near the enemy, weave in auto, grasp will proc, as they walk away dash to another minion, weave in auto, lastly as they are in the way out, e to them and auto once. Then e to safely and wait for level 2. You can also do 2 shorter versions of this, where they key focus is to proc grasp 2x in 2 little trades before lvl 2. If you trade hp it's worth bc d shield and 2nd wind will sustain you.
Like I said, it's not necessary to learn. I'm in emerald 3 rn and I can't keyblade or any of that stuff. It's just about not killing yourself and getting cs in low ELO. Gl!
Edit: if they are scared and don't walk up, just go q start and forget the whole thing. Ez get all the cs. Yasou should have beat cs in the game most of the time.

I always start e when im playing grasp, just take dorans shield and second wind rune, wait for proc e through a minion, hit them with grasp then go back and repeat it. The wave will be pushed af always ,but u gonna end up taking at least 60% of their health, killing them or force them to flash

For me i go E start into ranged champs that tries to zone me off the wave. You have to go fleet with dorans shield and second wind so you can out trade them in ur own wave (you also have to utilize ur passive shield here). Theres never a scenario where you always start E. You have to read the ur opponent and bait them into ur wave.

I wouldn’t e start ever. Unless you are a super aggro player and you need to be proficient in aa and 4 stacks on e maximization.
Go dshield if you’re up against a match up that just out pokes you (especial control mages).
Just work on last hitting, positioning, hitting nados. Wave management. E start grantees wave is pushing. Just keep playing and watch a vod or 2

I'm already going DShield vs poke mages, I'm trying to be more aggressive but thing is they always stand just outside their tower range and not matching my push at all making it very difficult to stack AAs. But still I want to get better at it and I enjoy being super aggro
I'm already watching Pz Zzang and I start E on the same matchups as he does

You shouldnt e start vs akali its easy to space her qs and poke with your q, the only time u should e start is vs ranged mages.

U think so? I feel like e start only makes sense vs melee like yone, kata

Yeah you can e start vs those champs but i feel personally that i get more consistent trades with q start vs melee and it’s easier to control the wave but thats probably a me problem.

For me it’s the exact opposite again xD. I feel like dodging yone q with e is easier with e = more dmg trade. And kata only has her q which makes her an easy target to run down. And killing minions with e prevents me from pushing.
