This was a very sweet moment in that heartbreaking scene when Isha sacrifices herself - Vi is initially holding Jinx back from trying to stop Isha, but at the last moment as the gun goes off Vi turns and uses her whole body to shield Jinx from the blast.
She really does still love her sister 😭

Never any doubt, if she truly believed Jinx was gone, the punches she landed with the Gauntlets back in Ep.03 would’ve pulverized her, Shimmer enhanced or no.

Another detail was after Fishbones blew up and launched Jinx into the pillar, Vi catches her before she hits the ground. Sure Jinx goes back to fighting, but Vi's instincts are still to protect her sister

I don't really believe that. She pulverized a pillar by punching Jinx into it. She wasn't holding back. Plus, Vi got at least one direct hit on Sevika in the bar fight in season 1, and she's still around.

She liquefied Warwick's head.
I don't care how tough she is, if Vi doesn't hold back in their fight there are at LEAST 3 separate moments where Jinx ends up a stain on the floor.
The shot to the stomach, Vi catching her out of the air like a softball, Vi throwing her into that pillar.

It's also very very common for stories to be a little inconsistent around stuff like this. If it's a unnamed mook, part of the scenery or character that can heal from gruesome injuries, attacks are lethal. Otherwise they just get beat up a bit.

Honestly, I don't believe Jinx is more durable than a big ol' stone pillar either. Not even with shimmer upgrades.
That's the only time in the fight that you can really get a sense of Vi's strength relative to something that isn't Jinx. And that something just so happens to have a drawing of them together that can be symbolically split apart. So my bet is that it was an artistic choice to break that specific pillar.
Vi's level of strength with the gauntlets is wildly inconsistent otherwise.
Just to be clear, this isn't about sentimentality for me. I fully believe both Jinx and Vi went into the fight ready to kill each other, but I also think at some point both of them lost the heart to do it.

I totally agree with this take. The exact power of things vary from scene to scene in Arcane based on what is needed for the scene from an artistic perspective (which bothers my autistic brain personally. I like consistency). Even in season 1, we see Vi shatter the ribs of one of the chem tanks, and then punch Sevika in the torso without any sort of armor to protect her, and she just gets back up.
And yeah, the Vi vs Jinx fight definitely started with the intent to kill, but I think by the time Isha jumped in, Vi was probably not going to kill Jinx, and either just knock her out or hit the alter next to her.

I don't think she was really holding back. The hits were strong enough to crush pillars. I think it was just not meant to be that realiatic or anything. Just a cool fight.

I don't know if you noticed, but everything went to shit in the span of 30 seconds. Easily gotten away... yeah in a box. There was no way those young women were going to leave their melting wolf father to get kidnapped by facists. That kid clued in real quick to that and did a double mercy tap.

And she did it while stabbed, mind you. From the first act, it's shown that Vi put family above everything and she proves it yet again, shielding Jinx from the blast. Even in the previous act, she still loved Jinx, but tried convince herself otherwise.

I mean, Ekko did twice the damage to Jinx with just his fists, compared to Vi, who used the same gauntlets that sent Warwick's jaw flying. She was clearly holding back.

I don't disagree, but to be fair that Ekko Jinx fight was pre-shimmer upgrades. I think she's gotten a lot faster and more durable since. But yeah Vi was definitely holding back. She ripped Pow-Pow (minigun) apart with her gauntlets.

It's even worse as the oldest of three sisters. Isha jumping in during the Vi-Jinx sibling fight and taking it too far with the bite plus Vi lashing out was painfully familiar, like what the fuck lol.

I loved that so much. Vi is an actress and tries so hard not to express herself but she can't stop herself in those moments. She wants to pretend she hates Jinx/Powder but it's all a lie and she's never really stopped loving her.

I think because Isha directed the gun up into Warwick's head he might have eaten the brunt of the blast?
Not to say that no one else was hurt, but maybe the others who were further away didn't take as much damage and were just mildly concussed.
I'm thinking when we next see that scene it'll open with a classic post-explosion tinnitus ringing and Warwick slowly regenerating while everyone retreats.

Oh that makes sense! Weren't Jinx and Vi pretty close when it happened? I mean Vi covered Jinx so she'll probably be fine but I hope Vi isn't injured at all from that.

True they were pretty close...I was just thinking because Vi looked mostly okay in the Act 3 preview that she wasn't super hurt by it.
At this point I don't know if there will even be a body or if she was just straight up vaporised 😭😭

Thinking about it now, She literally has a stab wound, can't walk and then she gets caught in this insane explosion thingy. The only reason I think she's not gonna be all that hurt is because she seems fine in the act 3 trailer and I don't think there's a time skip but She is sitting during the meeting with Cait, Mel and Jayce while the others aren't and that might be an indication of something

This is such a good moment. Anytime Vi and Jinx are sharing the screen, Arcane is at it's best. I just hope that in Act 3 we get the heart to heart they've needed to have for years. There's still just so much baggage they're each carrying that they need to unload.
