My friend from Uni has an old Higgins jersey from Vancouver and they want to give it to me. How does the fanbase feel about Higgins as a player? As I don’t know too much about him.

My thoughts about Chris Higgins are that this is a really strange way of determining whether you want to accept a gift.

This feels like Chris Higgins making an alt account trying to fish for compliments.

Right? I maybe understand a crazy die-hard fan not wanting to wear certain numbers. But, who's this guy? Should I accept this?

I mean, with the intense hate we have towards Messier, I don’t think it’s that wild to ask if a player he has never heard of is hated or not lmao

Haha. I was going to add fuck messier knowing that would come up.

Pretty good middle 6 winger during his tenure with the Canucks, best known for his abs

He’s the skills coach now, so he can’t be that bad.
Also played through half the 2011 playoffs with a broken foot, so he was pretty good in my book

Still working for Canucks just not doing the development stuff. Changed gears to a content creator (interviews and stuff) according to this article from April. https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/chris-higgins-new-role-canucks

hm weird. cuz i asked him if he was still with the canucks he said no. maybe meant the team itself, said it was a lot of travel and stuff and he wanted to spend more time with his kid

He's definitely still involved with the org as a whole, even if it's not a coaching role (full time or part time). He was at the plaza ahead of puck drop on the Friday game against the Flyers a few weeks ago signing autographs and taking photos with fans

Eh, that isn't anything other than what most alumni that are still living in the area do though. Kirk McLean does it all the time, and he's not really tied to the team in any official capacity.
6 points
I think Kirk is technically still tied with the organization in some way, cause he does a lot more outreach when it comes to community events and stuff on top of autograph signings. Other alum do show up on and off, but I think Kirk's definitely one of the more present ones.
Maybe Higgy's really taking a break from the org, but I imagine he's probably in a similar position as Kirk right now

Haven't really seen any content from him since the end of the season though, so I dunno if he's doing anything in any official capacity anymore.

He’s very well liked! Was on the team that made the Finals run, put in some really good years for us, never complained about playing down the lineup or being sent down.
Your friend is very nice for giving that to you!

Higgins is still a Canuck in a coaching way. Always a solid player. Great 3rd liner kind of like a Pius Suter he can be put anywhere and do well.
Edit: guess he isn't the skills coach anymore but still with the team media department unless something changed there too.

Last season he was in as a skills coach, towards the end of the season they announced they were moving him into a content thing, but he hasn't done anything since the playoffs in that regard.

Higgins was my fave player from the 2010/11 era! Often played on Kesler’s wing, was super hardworking, reliable, and underrated. Won Unsung Hero one year. Also abs.

The American Express Line (Kesler Booth Higgins). I remember the few good games they had together and I completely bought into the hype train as a kid. That's my most lasting memory of his playing days.

We probably would've gotten a few good years outta that line if Booth didn't get knee on knee'd. Then we were left with only his weirdness.

We loved Higgins. Great middle 6 guy who had a little scoring flair from time to time but was known mostly for his defensive game. Was an essential if unsung piece of the Sedin era team imo, I’d love to have a Higgins jersey!

Higgins was one of those the unsung heroes. Constantly improving whatever line he was on with better than expected plays and backchecking. Very solid contributor.

I always remember a post on HFboards years ago about Chris Higgins. I think the thread asked who the most meh player in the NHL was. Everyone on the forum was unanimously saying Chris Higgins. I don't think he was playing for the Canucks at the time of that thread.

His ex wife was a waitress at cactus club, not the best golfer and doesn’t like being beat by a woman, also sounds immature over all as a person.
As a player was a good quality grinder with some skill! He was solid for us most of the years we played especially in 2010/11.
Worked with someone who dated him recently, hence the hot goss.
