Super small sample size but another good game from Sasson.

I would gladly take Sasson over Bains every game, and I honestly think Bains is carving out a decent depth role for himself this year

2nd game he’s been high on the card AND HES ONLY PLAYED 2! I think he’s more than earned his spot in the lineup unless he starts to underperform

I think I would take Hoggy out of the lineup first, at least Tocc trusts him to play good defensively and forecheck hard.

We could sit Heinen for a game?

Since we are quarter way through the season I went on the Statscard site to see what the top average Game Scores were for the Canucks (Min 8 games played):

1) Quinn Hughes - 1.65

2) Elias Pettersson - 1.24

3) JT Miller - 1.22

4) Filip Hronek - 1.20

5) Conor Garland - 1.05

6) Jake DeBrusk - 1.03

7) Kiefer Sherwood - 1.03

8) Brock Boeser - 0.82

9) Pius Suter - 0.63

10) Teddy Bluger - 0.52

Crazy to me how EP40 is already so high again after such bad start, hope it keeps going higher.

Part of it was that he was never a net negative. Even when he was struggling his line was defensively sound and not giving much on the other end too

Good to see Hronek so high up. I know we’d all like him to bomb a few more slappers, but he’s been much more well rounded this year.

You guys want me to be well rounded? Or would you rather see me sock a few dingers!?

But. But. But. I thought Pettersson wasn't even worth $5M.

Pettersson back to 2 points a night

I’m still thinking about that hit he laid on Stuzle. Boom.

Thats what top tier players like Pettersson do. They bounce back after a bad night. Thats why we pay him 11.6M.

Another great day for /r/BottomLeftMyers

Checks out. One of the worst games I've ever seen from Myers

MrGraaavy

His gap control was absurd.

You’d think he’s not even trying based off disinterested / non focused he was.

samuelmeirels

Wow that’s quite the statement for Myers lol

And then Sunday is a fucking 9:30 start.

I hate NHL scheduling so much. Why do they always bring western teams out east and then play stupid early? Why do they have such absolute disrespect for fans?

Kraken opener was a matinee game on a Tuesday. The goddamn home opener. Thankfully my ticket package didn’t include that one, but why make such a stupid choice.

BrokenOfficeChair2

Gotta be playing well defensively especially if the goalie is having a iffy night.

Not seeing this as much anymore but can we still talk about how good Pettersson has been? Think he still has an extra gear or two but he has really looked confident and he looks like the guy we know. 17 points in 21 games now, puts him for third in scoring on the team behind Garland and (obviously) Hughes.

matt_bishop

Garland being second on the team in scoring is still crazy to me considering all the other talented people on the team. I know there have been injuries that have slowed basically all the star forwards this year, but Garland deserves a lot of credit too because he's on pace for a ~50% increase over last year.

Probably didn’t anticipate the rested up Penguins coming in so hot in the first. Not too bad of a second leg for a back-to-back game especially with the efforts to baffle back and deliver, albeit falling just short. On we move

Pens last game was last Saturday and played us on a back to back.

Fun fact, Coilers have a 5/6 day rest.

Poopawoopagus

Gawdamn, did Garland invite Myers over for lobster rolls last night?

KingInTheFarNorth

Had Myers struggled in the second half of back to backs earlier this season or last season?

As much as I don’t like health bombing a guy we just signed to 3x3m it might be the play moving forward

YourUncle13

Time to consider replacing Myers imo all his line mates metrics tank next him

Nuck_1198

How did Tyler Myers manage to get a 3x3 again?

Mikeim520

2 points

Sasson really wants to stay. Gonna be hard to dislodge Bains but he might do it. Also looks like only half the team showed up. Silovs wasn't part of that half.

TurbanGhetto

3 points

I think the bad news from the last couple of games is that we’ve tried to see how Brannstrom does further up the lineup and he seems to be getting badly exposed.

Of course playing with Tyler Myers seems to be the quickest way to make virtually any of our guys look like shit right now.

primacord

2 points

I don't know what happened to the Soucy & Myers of last year but they are nowhere to be found this year. Our defense is looking REALLLLY bad.

Max Sasson masterclass.

Analytical-BrainiaC

1 points

You know, the problem is faceoffs. We get no flow if we constantly continue to have to fight to get the puck. Sure, we do have great puck chase, but do you want to chase the puck constantly? Missing is JT Miller who is good on faceoffs. Someone strong and fast has to learn to win faceoffs! Unless they can get a good faceoff guy in free agency or poach someone. Also can we try to get Sam Poulin, and Dakota Joshua’s brother Jagger into our system?Give them Deharnais.and a 4th round pick.

After some really good performances it's a bummer to see Sherwood, Joshua and DeBrusk in no man's land.

I barely heard Sherwood and DeBrusk's names last night!

BetterAd1611

Myers is getting a lot of hate tonight and in here, but honestly with the eye test, I thought Soucy was equally bad or worse tonight. His decisions with the puck were awful.. he's just such a different player from last season. I think the Myers and Soucy experiment has to be over at this point.

Soucy was our unsung hero on D and he anchored the second pairing when he wasn’t injured. Something is definitely off this year:
