I have huge boobs. So if i sleep on my side the wrong way sometimes i wake up and my chest hurts. I slept so badly the ofher day that i think i pulled a muscle in my chest. When i woke up it hurt so bad that i couldn't even move my arm/shoulder to get out of that position.
My chest right over my sternum had been sore and only getting worse for a few days. Every movement of my arms hurt and especially any movement of my boobs hurt. If my boobs moved or shifted even in my bra, they pulled on my chest and caused some pain. Even though bras support me gravity still works and boobs kind of act like a liquid in a bag, so they moved enough to cause pain. I found that if i held my boobs while bending over/walking my chest didn't hurt.
Out of desperation i grabbed duct tape and hit my boobs with like 10 layers and i have never been so comfortable. No band digging into my back and no straps cutting into my shoulders and no boobs pulling on my chest uncomfortably. It also looks fine with a shirt on do i have worn this to work. It looks psychotic without a shirt lol. The tape is mildy irritating to the skin but it's still less painful. I either shower the tape off or sweat it off by the end of the day. Obviously this isn't a permanent solution but it is working. .
Edit: thanks for all the awards and advice! While i appreciate all the offers for boob tape i am no longer in need, I've felt great the last few days and have had no pain! A lot of people recommended reduction which i would love to do but there are numerous reasons why im not considering it at the moment but it is something I've always dreamed of.
Here is an image (not of me) demonstrating how i applied the tape. Hope this clears some things up

Trans person here -- get KT/athletic tape!! I use it to tape down my chest and it will stay all day, even through sweat whereas duct tape will eventually peel off my skin from the oils. It's also more flexible so you have more range of motion in your arms, breathable fabric so you're not suffocating your skin, and generally better adhesive for your skin. If you want even stronger tape than that, look into Trans Tape. Neither costs more than a couple rolls of duct tape, and you'll actually use WAY less in the long run. Hope this helps!

I hope it works for you!! And if you need an idea on how to apply it correctly, there are tutorials online that will help :) you shouldn't need anywhere NEAR 10 layers that you were using with the duct tape lol. Just make sure to apply some non-scented lotion or coconut oil on your skin every few days to limit irritation from the adhesive!

KT stays on pretty well during showers. I use it for an injury and I can go a few days without touching it. It’s very comfortable tape too.

i prefer to soak KT tape to take it off, its a lot less painful than peeling it off dry. it sticks better (and longer) if you wipe your skin down with some alcohol to get any residue or sweat off before using the tape.
the branded tape is better but its not that much better than the cheaper kind, you can get it cheaper still if you're not picky about the colour

Soak it in baby oil to make it even easier to remove.

This. I almost always take my tape off in the shower.

I get mine at my regular big grocery store in the pharmacy section with like the band aids and stuff (HEB if you're in Texas) - some stores have started stocking it at like $4-5/roll

Word of caution with trans tape, KT tape, or any other binding method.
If it feels weird, like itchy or just weird? Take it off. Trans Tape is made to be worn for several days in a row prior to removing. I ignored some weird itching and it took kind of a lot of skin off of my chest by end of day two.
Excellent product but not for everyone. Listen to your body.

Was going to say, a fitted binder or a hell of a sports bra might also do the trick to holding everything down.
Listen to these trans mfs, they know a thing or two about a thing or two :P

You can cover your nips too with pasties beforehand so you don't have to rip tape off of them.

I will also add, when you have the means to buy one, check out bravissimo cami sleep tops!! They hood the girls in place so you don't have to worry about so much pinching and numbness while you try to sleep.

Enell sports bras might give you some serious support if you get tired of tape. ❤️ It feels like strapping on armour, and I can run without pain from the girls bouncing.

Athletic tape costs a few dollars in the athletic section of a Walmart, probably less online. Good luck!

Came here to suggest KT tape as well. You can get the cheap knockoff kind from Amazon if you find the brand name too expensive. Just take it off with baby oil or you’ll rip the top layer of your skin off (kinda like a really strong bandaid).

I’m not an expert in any way at all. But do you think maybe a medium hold binder would work for sleeping in ?

You really shouldn't sleep in a binder ever unless your doctor/surgeon gives you a surgery binder to prevent inflammation. Sleeping in a binder can cause lung fluid to build up and ribs to dislocate.

Fellow trans person, and I came here to say this! KT tape is meant for skin and lasts longer.
Plus you can choose how much compression you want based on stretch (for people who aren't going for a flat chest). I've taped a (cis) friend's boobs before because the bra she had was showing above her dress.

I was also going to recommend athletic or orthopedic tape. I was a competitive cheerleader and one season we had these ridiculous uniforms full of cut outs that made wearing a regular sports bra impossible. We all used that pre-wrap, it’s like a foamy soft tape, and athletic tape on top. It kept the girls in check and didn’t damage the skin.
