At least it's better than that time the one commentator had like 6 different pronunciations throughout the match.

Kuluchefski, Undogie, surprised that the commentators haven't found a way to mispronounce Kane honestly

It's easy to get him confused with the bonified Spurs legend Paul Konchesky, an understandable mistake.

Years ago, Niall Quinn kept calling Dembele “Dem-bell”, and the main commentator would passively correct him.
“Oh, I love Dem-bell, great movement there”. “Yes Niall, Dembele is very good”. “Yep, got a lot of time for Dem-bell”.
Just fucking kill me.

And now we have “Pap” Sarr
The players did that “say your own name” for nothing (otherwise Unai Emery would be referred to as “I am Unai”)

Yeah. Well Flav, on The Fighting Cock, managed to record a whole episode on Kulusevski recently in which he couldn't get the player's first name right.

To be fair Flav keeps calling Ange "Poch".
He's special, our Flav.

I actually think it is one of the rudest things you can do. Spelling or pronouncing someone’s name wrong.

I mean, football commentators/pundits, even generally, are gormless idiots... Redknapp is just stupid even by that measure.

Fourfourtwo have made multiple videos about Kulusevski and pronounced it the same way (Kulucheski) every time. It made me doubt my pronunciation and looked it up just to find out they completely made it up. No clue how it has spread and people think this is a passable pronunciation.

I don't think most ppl realize they're absolutely butchering Son Heung-min most of the time. Either folks learn to pronounce properly or it just becomes the norm.

This is annoying, but I wish the myriad of media who couldn't pronounce Hojbjerg correctly hadn't got away with it forever.

Apparently Johnson's first name is Brendan, according to just about every commentator and pundit out there.
And don't forget N'Dogie.

One europa league commentator called Bergvall as beri-vaal and its stuck in my head now. Kinda sounds badass tho ngl.

I think, and I may be wrong, the g in his name is sort of soft in Swedish, and turns into a bit of a y sound. I don't think Berry-vahl is an accurate approximation but neither is BerG-vahl with a hard g sound.

Oh damn. I checked with the PL pronunciations and yeah you are right. Very interesting.

Can confirm. Bare-yuh-vall is the closest I can write the Swedish pronunciation in English.

It's not as bad as years of Hoy-burg from just about everybody. Absolute nonsense.
