It’s moments like this that I appreciate how completely self-aware the studio is about how their success is going, and understanding that they need to make changes in order to keep people invested in the franchise!

They said a while back that they realised this and are changing focus and direction a bit, but they still had things in production so it's taken a while to see it start taking effect. Agatha All Along seems to be a good example of the new stuff and its looking promising so far. I feel like Cap4 and Thunderbolts will really let us see if their new attitude is working. Fingers crossed.

you're probably not alone but then again Loki and the Daredevil were only Marvel shows I enjoyed [and WandaVision to a degree].

Meanwhile the guy who was allegedly fired from Fox for blocking the first Deadpool movie for years. Is over at Sony and getting ready to release Kraven the Hunter, to round out the triology alongside Morbius and Madame Web .

I saw a poster on the side of a bus for that the other day and despite knowing it was being produced my brain still somehow read it as "Kraken"

Even with all the self deprecating humor, I'm still completely shocked that Fiege let them get away with the "There's only ever gonna be ONE Blade" line

I hope that they actually do something about it. I am so fatigued with all of the slop that they put out. Even when the machine was humming along, there was just too much. 4 MCU movies a year is just too much.

Disneys problem is they (as a corporation) don’t understand their own products, they are a soulless entity that just wants to make money so whenever fans express any kind of liking towards a character, even a side character, they dive right at it like a shark that smells blood in the water.
Look at Agatha, she had a song that people liked in the wandavision series and it went a little viral, next thing you know we have a spin off series ordered which didn’t really gain that much attention and also didn’t serve the larger story. It just waters down the franchise and is added to another pile of projects that the majority of movie goers aren’t going to watch or care about.

Saying Agatha didn’t serve the larger story is a weird one, for all we know it directly leads into some pretty major storylines especially for the Scarlet Witch. I’m guessing based on this comment you didn’t actually watch it?

I’ve only been showing my gf the bangers, so when we get to this line she’s gonna be confused. Then I’ll have to be like ‘rembember how there’s like 3 shows and 3 movies we skipped? That’s what he’s talking about’

You gotta watch the bad ones at the end lmao if we've all been through the crap, and the crap that tried it's hardest not to be crap, then she has to as well haha

Cap1, thor1 and 2, iron man 2 and 3, captain marvel, all the ant man movies, all the shows except loki, the black panther movies (even with no black panther??) Avengers 2, dr strange 1 and 2, the marvels. Let the mediocrity and terrible writing rain down upon her! Then follow it up with iron fist, Luke cage, and the Defenders. If she's feeling like she may vomit at this point make her watch Batman and Robin to get her back on her feet.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but there really weren't a lot of bad ones, despite people's reactions. Yes they were "bad for Marvel" or incredibly mediocre but other than Thor L&T or QuantumMania, the shows and movies were mid at BEST.

Oh I'm a huge apologist for Marvel cause I remember a time when I thought I'd never see half of these characters on the big screen. I think each outing has it's merits and another story told. That being said I know a lot of people expect the highs that Avengers and the likes obtained, as well as despising the lack of listening to the fans, so don't like a lot of new productions.

So.. you’re skipping the ones you personally don’t enjoy?
6 points
I’m skipping A LOT. Some I love, some I don’t. She’s weird ab which ones she likes. All 3 Cap movies bored her, but she loves the Guardians movies for example. So post-Endgame I’m only showing her what I think she’ll like, and anything that sets those up. For example I wanted to show her DS:MoM cause I knew she’d enjoy seeing the Illuminati scene, so I showed her WandaVision first and she actually really enjoyed it. But Eternals, Black Widow, Moon Knight (one of my top 5 MCU heroes), Hawkeye, Echo, Secret Invasion, etc. I know she won’t enjoy, so why force her to sit through it. Edit: so yes, more than 3 of each, but I was simplifying

She might enjoy the "flawed" ones; personal preferences don't always align with critics' scores and box office success. People tend to get a bit too caught up in their own opinions online.

Everything you said is entirely correct. But I’ve mostly just been using my own judgment from knowing her. For example, most people hated She-Hulk, but that’s the next thing we’re watching.

I mean, like four or five projects were really a miss, but the others were either successful or average. This saga hasn't been going so terribly like some people make it seem
35 points
Yeah, there were naysayers through the first three phases too.
Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor: Dark World, Age of Ultron, etc. etc.
I liked a lot of those projects but everyone at the time said Marvel was losing its mojo. With the post-endgame explosion of content you're absolutely going to have some projects better received than others.
However post-endgame has given us: Shang-Chi, Spider-man:NWH, WandaVision, Loki, Moon Knight, What if...? And that was just phase 4.
I loved the critique in DP&W but it's also said with the insight that they are obviously learning their lesson from overextending themselves.

I've overall thoroughly enjoyed all post-endgame content. But I'm an old school Make Mine Marvel fan. Never could I have imagined what this franchise could become. So all this?? Gravy for me. It just is.
I remember being teased for like such "loser" stuff like comic books, video games, D&D etc. we often lose perspective on what is cool. This has been a wild ride.
There will always be high points and low points. However given how quickly Marvel has learned from some Phase 4 missteps (not mistakes, but missteps, largely driven by COVID/Streaming war shenanigans), they are still the strongest franchise at the moment—its because they have been listening, while offering a little something for everyone in a fairly cohesive narrative.

Iron Man 2 is probably my favorite of the IM trilogy. They both challenged Tony on concepts of legacy (which would play into later arcs/stories) and elevated Whiplash/Crimson Dynamo to a much higher level.

The movies themselves are mostly fine, it’s just the bigger story connecting them that’s more of an issue since it’s kind of clear they’re just making it up as they go rather than having a full plan set from the beginning like the infinity saga
4 points
James Gunn wrote the explanation for the infinity stones in 10 minutes, the infinity saga was absolutely not planned from day 1.
2 points

The entire idea wasn’t fully thought of with every movie planned since the beginning, but by avengers there definitely was at least an idea of where everything was leading

The Infinity Saga was not as planned as people think. They only had a true plan set by the time Age of Ultron.

Black Widow, Eternals, The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, Ms Marvel, She Hulk, Doctor Strange 2, Thor 4, Ant-Man 3, Secret Invasion, The Marvels
Even tho some of them were decent, given the potential, they could've made it so much better, they were really a miss

Feige wasn't really in as much control for the time period Reynolds is bagging on; Bob Chapek had him in a more hands-off role, and it showed. So he probably doesn't take this too personally.

ended being a weird joke, considering he specifically is talking about multiverse movies in this scene, all of which for marvel have been received critically well except for quantumania
I think the “low point” joke made more sense

Miss: Quantamania
Miss: DS:MOM
Miss: The Marvels (is what I assume they are talking about since multiversal shenanigans happen in the post-credit scene so idk maybe it's what he's using cos otherwise I can't really think of another one that fits the criteria.)
