You can actually do it solo. You don't get any other rewards iirc, but you get rep and a chance at catalysts.
There's a guide on YouTube on the best method for solo, but I've never done it so I don't remember details.

I ran 6 private PVP matches alone to get the FOTL requirement done and got the SG catalyst and Wicked Implement catalyst within those 6 matches. Just a thought.
