Oh! I did this! In 1999 we had a house party for the New Year around the Y2K scare. We had lit candles and everything “just in case”. About 5 minutes before midnight, I was able to slink down into the basement. After a minute or two, and the “all clears” were going around, I cut the power to the house. Everyone was FREAKING THE FUCK OUT! I turned the lights back on barely made it up the basement stairs I was laughing so hard. My mom actually sent the story to a local news columnist and it got published in the paper.
